Does anyone know if we can primary Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI 8)?

Freedom-loving Americans should find primary challengers for Chairman Rogers who has a terrible voting record. And then it is statements like these that prove he must be defeated:

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, R-Mich., called the use of drones “a lawful act of national self-defense” in an initial statement last week, and argued on Sunday that the program already has enough oversight. “Monthly I have my committee go to the CIA to review them. I as chairman review every single airstrike we use in the war on terror, both on the civilian and the military side when it comes to terrorist strikes,” he said. “There’s plenty of oversight here.”

Yeah...right.

I would like to try. This man is a travesty. But he is liked here. It is very neocon-ish here. There is little green shoots of libertarianism all over this area, though. The problem with Rogers is he's kinda clean. While, IMO, he makes very bad decisions, he's not corrupt like some of the others. He's more guilty of going with the status quo. It will be a hard district to take. A challenge none the less.

No, I live way down in Georgia. I'm just inquiring about his status up there. Thanks for giving insight.

It would be harder to take out Rogers than it would've been for Kerry to go up against McCotter. That said, I despise Rogers. What I'd like to see happen is for the MIGOP to go to state convention caucuses to pick Senate, Gubernatorial nominees and the like while also going to district caucuses to pick Congressional nominees. This way, one's voting record would have more scrutiny and they'd know that unless they fly straight they're likely to be deposed by party delegates in the next caucus.

Ditto. He's crazy popular here. Our best chance to get him out of office is probably (sadly) to get him to run for higher office.

He's ex-CIA. I'm not as convinced as my esteemed colleague that he's clean.

I'm sure he's not clean, Angela, I just don't know of any dirt on him. Maybe I should have said he "seems" clean. My bad . Maybe it's just his dirt isn't as "Entertainment News Worthy" as some of his Co-Workers.

That's my main fear is he ends up running for Senate if Levin throws in the towel thus causing issues with Amash running. The current makeup of the MIGOP would make him an easy front runner just like it did with Hoekstra so I'd prefer him staying in the House despite his downfalls. Of course, unless we can get our guy in as state chair next weekend, get more people on the state committee and perhaps relinquish our status as a primary state and go full bore convention/caucus style so the roots have the say over our nominees. Hope to see you folks at state.

Yes. Joe Hune. Did 2 terms in the State House, term limited out, now in the State Senate. He's not perfect, as in - he's not one of us, but he's nice, he's approachable, and he seems to want to be a small gov conservative. I would support him.

I'd rather see Amash serve a couple more terms, then run for Governor. I don't want him to give up his seat for the Senate seat. It will be hard for the GOP to win it, especially since they're probably going to put up another big government candidate.

Rogers can give up his seat to run, and Joe Hune could run for that seat, and then Rogers can open a consulting/fundraising firm when he loses.
