There is no sign of the economy collapsing where I live. Unemployment is 5.1% in New Hampshire and 4.6% in Vermont. Over the last few years, it has been improving. It plenty of the communities near me it is in the 4%s or even the 3%s. Heck, it is 2.6% in 1 of the towns. In place like NV, parts of CA and MI and in RI, the economy already collapsed. Much of NC/TN/SC also collapsed. Will it get worse? I don't know. MI and SC at least, have been getting better since the collapses their. Time will tell but with the Free State Project in New Hampshire, we are likely better positioned than people elsewhere.

Non-union... Been working since I was 15, will most likely pull the plug at age 55 on current job and work a second job for another 10+ to supplement income.

I do not think there will be a total collapse of the type envisioned by survivalists (no electricity, no food, bulk of humans dying). That seems highly unlikely. But, I do not know the future! I could be wrong!

Agreed. Certainly not with so many people on wells and partially private or fully private electricity in rural areas. Not to mention all of the people on wood stoves in New England. Didn't happen in the great depression or great recession. Likely won't happen in my lifetime. Certainly not in New Hampshire!

I think NH will be in decline over the next 10-15 years. Just a personal opinion having lived through a major recession there years ago. See it coming with taxes, fuel costs, demographics, employment losses in MA, etc... People will get by but it won't be the same as the last 10-15 years. That isn't necessarily a bad thing if you are self sufficient.

Everyone here seems to be predicting a generic "collapse". I think we're going to have a very specific collapse. A FIAT CURRENCY collapse. I really don't know how it's going to affect standards of living. There's still going to be the same amount of "stuff" in the world, it's just that it willl get shuffled around.

Agreed... Ron Paul has discussed this at length. He has been warning about it for decades. I'm just not sure how to quantify it. Don't know what a fiat currency collapse looks like.

Taxes are certainly not going up 10% in NH. That's insane! State taxes went up about nothing in 2013. They went up by $400,000+ across the entire state. The 10 cent per pack tax cut for cigarettes was automatically repealed as it was set to repeal if it didn't increase cigarette taxes collections, and property taxes vary by town from small decrease to small increase. About education funding, NH didn't just pushed less education funding on the towns. It greatly increased state funding without doing much to change state taxes so I have no idea what you are talking about.

You might see a decline coming. But as for now, the increase is happening. It's a great time to live in NH. Low taxes. High pay. Hell yeah!. Wicked awesome!

you need to do some more reading, pay more attention, and learn more about the state you live in. i am talking about property taxes. likely other taxes may go up also. i wish i were making it up - really i do - but i'm not.

I did not close my retirement, for tax reasons, but I did move it out of stocks and bonds in July. So far the dow is down 500 points from when I pulled out. We'll see if that trend continues over the next couple of years...

Considering that the PTB do intend to reduce the population, I expect that at some point there will be violence coming in some form, but probably not for a while; I think they are in the early testing stage of dealing with civil unrest and are wanting to further drain us before pulling the plug so that we are too weak to fight back. The more people who have not savings, the easier they will be to take out....if everyone is struggling just to put food on the table, it is hard to do too much else.

However, I do expect the stock market to dive; it has been going up for quite a while now and it just looks like it is time for a dip. But, we'll see. I could be all wet.

Property taxes are just 1 of what, dozens of taxes. So saying all taxes while meaning just property taxes is not only dishonest, it is downright wrong! Anyway, obviously your claim is certainly untrue. So why make it? Please, let's base this discourse on reality. Not your evil thoughts!
