Does anyone else just feel generally uneasy right now?

Ever since seeing the reaction to Bin Laden's death and all of the news coverage since, I just feel a general uneasiness that I can't really explain.

My intuition is just screaming at me that something isn't right. It may be the intent of the fearmongering that there will be a response of some sort, but I don't even feel like the thing to fear is a terror attack, I just feel like there is something else that happened already that others know that we don't know yet.

No. In a month or two the news will change and people will basically forget this whole thing. There will be some debate whether or not the troops should be brought home and that is it. It will work how it always works.

Possibly. Then it will be 9/11/11, and this will be brought up again (near the election season's real, high-gear kickoff) and possibly we'll have a "credible threat" from a "new face of Al Qaeda" or similar thing.

I have a general feeling of distaste about the whole thing for a number of reasons.

Did anyone else's gasoline jump $0.10/gal this past weekend, btw?

I didn't see a thing about it on the news.

what you are sensing is that this is all just another act in a long drama...an act is setting up the next scene.

Another false-flag terror attack to be blamed on another ememy?...Major war coming?...Economic crisis?

Martial law?.....Something is indeed up.

I have said since 9/11 that until the 9/11 conspiracy is understood, we will be set up for even more drama in the future.

uneasy feeling - yes. it's that same sense of dread in the pit of my stomach that I had when I heard about 9/11. Not about what just happened, but rather how the government would react - and I was right.

I can specify why I have a bad feeling this time too:
As I posted last night, just as with nuclear war it's a really dumb idea to kill the people that can turn it off - if there is anyone on that side that could it would be UBL. I fear we have chopped off the head of a snake and a many headed hydra will replace it.

blowback - we just really pissed off a major portion of the world that idolized the guy and they are going to want some payback.

they just cemented that torture is OK as is assassination anyone in the american psyche

The WoT just went eternal

Obama is more likely to win re-election now, and if not, than the most neocon warmonger in the GOP probably will.

The efforts to "protect us" will snowball. Interesting timing with the parts of the patriot act coming up for a vote soon.

An more unstable middle east leading to more wars and a worse economy at home.

Why didn't Obama just nuke Mecca?

2 other things - every cell just went underground and relocated so the entire network just went off our radar screen

the only gain is that if a plot was being planned for the near future, it just got cancelled. But you can bet we will see a lot of attacks in the coming year.

I share your feeling. I worry that the successful mission will further whet the public's taste for wars and interventions. All the talk I hear is how proud people are, and it reminds of me of all the chest beating after 9/11. It really is a high of sorts. People don't think rationally when they're proud.
Radley Balko of reason had a little scientific insight into why that is.

Let's hope something else captures the public's attention soon.

I feel it.

This is Obama's moment. He's standing on a pile of ruble with his arm around a fire fighter. This is his "mission accomplished". His approval ratings will rise. His policies are being celebrated by the neocons. He just earned himself an extra 10% in the next election.

What the FUCK can we do about it?

btw, a lot of people will feel uneasy as time marches on and some of the hoopla dies down.

Who do people turn to when they feel uneasy?
