Do your immediate family members support Ron Paul?

My aunt and I live together (she's got MS), and we've never really talked about politics before this cycle. After about 2 weeks of very minimal talking about RP's policies, she was on board. My mom's been very receptive over the last 3 months or so, and I think she's leaning more towards him every time, but she's doesn't just come right out and say it...

My grandmother actually got a packet from the campaign (had NO idea they were sending out literature in KANSAS!!) and it really fired her up! I haven't pushed it since because I'm trying to be easy on her... She's been one of those establishment-minded people for so long I think it's OK to take it slow. My other aunt, same thing, I haven't talked to her yet, but I have a feeling whatever my grandma does she'll do too.

My brother... Well, let's just say we speak once or twice a year, if that... Last I heard Obama was his messiah, and I'm not particularly excited to have that conversation.

I have no idea about politics and my dad, we haven't spoken in about 3 years.

I've persuaded both of my parents to register Republican to vote in our (NJ's) primary. Of course, that occurs in June, so who knows what'll happen during the period of time before that.

My Mom believes Obama is a Knight in shining armor. My Dad is skeptical of the whole system. No matter what they'll both vote Paul in NJ's primary because of my insistence.

Dad - He's an avid fox news watcher. Seems ok with Paul's message, but i think he just comes across a little too eccentric for him. He really does like Rand though (i'm sure Hannity pumping him up helps a lot)
Mom - She talks politics a little bit, but not really sure what her take on Paul is...
Brother - Ron Paul supporter. He'll be voting for him in the primary

I bring up Paul all of the time (and Schiff and Napolitano etc.). I hope that they vote for Paul at the end of the day, but all i can do is educate them...

This thread is perfect timing. I just spoke with my Dad for the first time about this tonight. He is very much a Limbaugh guy, but we had some civil discussion. He doesn't like anyone yet, and primarily is going to vote for whoever can beat Obama. But he is a smart guy, so he realizes that the economy is really bad and that Ron Paul is one of the only ones who could actually do something about that. He doesn't agree at all on foreign policy, but if Ron wins Iowa and shows some electability and I push the economic angle, I think there is actually a chance he could vote for him. I never thought I could say that before.

My mom is mostly on board. I got her to vote in '08 and even donate a little money this time around. She isn't solid yet though because of foreign policy and for a while a family friend was talking her into Cain. But, I think with a little more time, I will secure her vote again in the primaries. She loves me and does what I ask Yet I really believe getting her to truly believe is almost more important than the vote because she could be a great advocate for him.

My sister and brothers don't seem to care and if they do vote, I think I can convince them to do it for Dr. Paul.

As for my friends, I have a slightly better conversion rate. I even have ex-gf's (some who hate my guts) who are completely into him just because they know him so well from how much I obsessed over him. Now THAT is the power of the liberty message!

My parents typically vote democrat. My grandfather converted me to Ron Paul without ever mentioning his name. So I ask him and my grandmother who they are voting for and they replied "no one". I said what about Ron Paul. They replied that he was the only honest man in politics but the NWO would blow his brains out if he ever got close to being elected.

He never converted me that far, lol.

My mom and dad are just as hardcore in their RP support as I am. It wasn't even an ordeal to convince them. We all just saw that first GOP debate back in '07 and were instantly "in the bag". And even though my folks are divorced, we've all (my parents, my sister, and me) driven together to see Ron speak in Spartanburg, Greenville, etc.

My kid sister is generally pretty apolitical, but we're incredibly close, and she knows how much I love RP so I think some of that enthusiasm has rubbed off on her. She even met Ron in Spartanburg in '07 and had someone there snap a photo of them hugging (unfortunately, never got a copy of the photo).

My paternal grandmother admires Ron Paul's character and likes him far better than anyone else running. But my maternal grandmother thinks he's crazy and scary, mostly because of his stance on abortion. Can't win 'em all sometimes, but 4 out of 5 ain't bad!

my mother, twin brother, older sister (who is a waitress, and supported ron paul because of me, but got a ron paul 'no tax on tips' card in the middle of nowhere, tx from another supporter), little brother who just turned 18 are all sure thing ron paul voters. my dad likes him, but i'm not sure if he's actually voting.

My father was the hardest, but he has really come around recently. He is really independant minded so all I had to do is give him "liberty defined" and he started listening. My mother will most likely follow his lead, she is fairly aware the state this country is in. My two brothers and my sister will follow my dad and myself, they know we have a better understanding of things then they do. I'm trying to get them more active, before it's too late.

As for my friends, they are all like me, it was easy to start the liberty fire in there hearts.

Working on my aunts and uncles now. Most of them just don't know they are Paul supporters yet.

My father is coming around. He lives in Iowa, and is actually going to see Ron speak at Northern Iowa University this Friday, an event that I helped RSVP him for. He is struggling with all of the neocon stuff he has believed in for so long and has always liked Newt. It's interesting, because he knows the truth about the Fed and other issues, but still hasn't come all the way around in terms of understanding the illusion of the two party system. My stepdad is one of those anybody but Obama people. He likes Ron and always has good things to say about him but won't completely support him for whatever reason. However, he said that he couldn't vote for Newt, and I don't think he will vote for someone like Romney, so that's a good thing. My mom is open to voting for Ron, but doesn't really care enough to take any action and look seriously at the issues. My older sister doesn't like Ron's desire to cut government programs. My brother in law is a SERIOUS conspiracy buff who thinks that Ron is controlled opposition and not a real threat to the power establishment (he's hard to convince otherwise.) And my grandmother is a die hard liberal who loves Obama. She agrees with Ron on the war and on other non neocon positions, but Isn't willing to listen when it comes to the positions where Ron does not line up with liberals.

Hubby and I are both supporters. My Mom is a lifelong democrat but she can't stand Obama. I just found out a couple months ago that she didn't vote in the last election because she didn't like him. I told her about Ron Paul on the 4th of July and she said she was really going to look at each candidate. About a week later she mentioned that she liked him but liked Gary Johnson better. I noticed about a month ago she like Ron Paul on facebook. She's been "liking" status updates here and there lately about Ron Paul, posted by cousins. Today she posted his newest commercial and said "great commercial!". I think she is on board. My sis is a liberal although I am not sure if she will actually vote.

Hubby's parents are conservative Christians and they keep saying that they don't like anyone. FIL said he can't remember what he didn't like about Paul. He seems to not like the others more though. I think they will come around especially if it comes down to Paul, Romney and Newt. My BIL liked Cain because of his "fair tax plan". Has said that he thinks Paul is ok but he doesn't think he is electable. Says he can't stand Romney. I don't see how he could support Newt and I think he said that he didn't like him. Our primary is in June and I think by the time it comes around they will be supporters. We are working on them.

Our good friends are supporters. Apparently long before we were.

My dad got ME into RP. My mom, dad and I were all delegates to the Alaska State Repub Convention representing Paul from our district (which he won overwhelmingly, because we stacked the caucus!)

I've worked very hard these past four years. ALL of them and many extended family are for Paul. This includes some Democrats. And most will WRITE him in if he does not win the primary.

I've been dragging my mom to meetings/events since '07. She even climbs mountains wth her cane in hand to help me hang signs.

My brother was an early convert, pimarily due to RP's drug policy. I created the War on Drugs "ozzfest flyers" for him to take to oncerts, then eventually got our cousins and some friends involved and bought them all Jimmy Buffet tix, with the stipulation that they help me distibute 5000 flyers before the concert and launch RP beach balls during. Woooo, potheads! lol. A bunch of his friends are now RP supporters.

My dad is a very recent convert. He voted McCain, but is now walking around in Ron Paul t-shirts and talking to all of his friends/customers/other local business owners about Ron. Loving it. Since Thanksgiving, he has converted his brother, 2 local small business owners, found out a few of his cusomers already liked Ron, and is working on converting a state rep. I'm proud.

Wife : Disappointed Obama supporter. Guaranteed RP vote since Obama isn't facing a primary challenger. Would likely vote for Ron Paul if he got the nomination. Would NOT vote for any other republican.

Dad : Unsure. Probably will stick with what he knows.
Mom : Some months ago I told her "Mom, you've just got to vote for Ron Paul. This country is going to hell in a handbasket." She said "Son, I think you're right. I might just vote for Ron Paul."

Brother : Unsure. Likes and respects Ron Paul. Still sorta supports Obama. Might be persuaded to vote for Paul since Obama isn't facing a primary challenger.

Kids : Far to young to vote. Rib me for supporting Ron Paul all the time, but love (and argue over) the Ron Paul wristbands I got them. One son wrote a letter to Obama expressing his displeasure with the TSA opening Christmas presents.

Cousins/in-laws/aunts/uncles/friends - Most are disappointed Obama supporters. Most are at least considering the idea of voting for Ron Paul in the primary since Obama isn't facing a primary challenger. I believe I can get 10 to 20 votes for Ron Paul using this strategy, but I have to really follow up on it when we get close to Super Tuesday. If every committed Ron Paul supporter in the country could just secure 10 to 20 additional votes.....

None were Paul supporters until I started campaigning within my family.
