Do you get frustrated when it comes to finding food to eat?

/small rant

Every single day I have this enormous amount of frustration and anger. I guess I am just walking around pissed off every single day because of how terrible things are.

Just a simple trip to the store and I get ticked off, annoyed and usually find myself walking out of the store without a single food item. I see those jugs of water with extra fluoride and feel like punching a hole in the wall. I see fat people putting diet soda in their cart and feel like shaking them. I see the workers and they look like they want to die. /sigh

I go to my mother in law's house for dinner and EVERYTHING has MSG or hidden MSG (disodium inosinate, disodium guanylate, "natural flavors", autolyzed yeast extract etc) in it. I refuse to eat and then it becomes a big deal because I never want to go there for holidays or birthdays. I am the weird one for not wanting to eat the delicious "homemade" food.

I go to the mall and there is absolutely nothing I can eat at the food court or in a vending machine. You can't even get a coffee at McDonalds because there are preservatives in it! wtf!?

I go to a restaurant and you think you are being healthy by ordering a salad, but it's full of MSG, high fructose corn syrup and the salad dressing probably has Splenda in it or aspartame.

I am pissed off. Does anyone else feel this way? Or perhaps people don't know how poisoned our food is? Or perhaps people don't care how poisoned it is?

Help!
:( :)

What do you guys do when you find yourself in a situation where there is nothing SAFE to eat? I am okay at home, but when I am out, I usually don't eat until I get home.

It sucks... but unless you can afford to do all of your shopping at whole foods and/or central market... or have a ton of land and grow/raise all of your own food... there's not much you can do about it. I can't... so I long ago quit looking. I avoid the bad stuff where I can... no diet soda for me, thank you. But reading the labels looking for the "hidden" nasties would drive me crazy. As long as there isn't an affordable, available alternative, I'm choosing to let it go and at least reduce the amount of stress in my life instead.

P.S. Please don't take this the wrong way... I'm not knocking those who can/do manage to live in this screwed up world and still eat healthy. I wish I could, and I applaud those who do. Just offering another perspective.

Don't eat. After going on several fasts for up to 10 days my system doesn't get upset skipping meals for up to 48hrs. and then I just start feeling tired. Just eat at home or take things with you. The beauty of raw food is alot of it is easy to carry. I have dehydrated below 110*f many things. Carry with you nuts, seeds, some fruit, salads, Raw milk cheese. I'm fortunate live 5 min from a health food store that has an organic salad bar, fresh made organic soups and even hot and ready to eat free range and natural meats. Beleive it or not I feel worse when I don't eat that way. But an occasional diner with freinds and relatives is not going to hurt if you eat right the other 99% of the time.
.

ihave eaten only oganic raw food for ages. i do not eat out nor at other's places, having had enough already. there has never been a problem of insulting anyone, but if there were, too bad, as my health comes first.

I agree with the previous poster, occasional dinner out or at someone's house shouldn't do damage if you are really healthy the rest of the time. By the way, do you know about this site? I love it, and is how I found out where to by whole, natural milk as well as other grass fed animal products. Learned lots about health on here, it really is an eye opener. :)

Yes! I hate going to the grocery store. I feel like I am in a booby trapped zone trying not to step on the bombs. Just this morn I went to the store and went to get my no antibotic, no hormone chicken that came on the market several months ago (Tyson's). It was GREAT! Now it is no longer available where I shop. I asked the meat guy what happened to it. Apparently, Corporate made a decision not to sell it anymore for reasons he is not aware of and went on to tell me it was a very popular item and many people are complaining that it's gone.. I wandered around the meat section for 30 minutes just looking for something I felt good about to buy :(.

try just vegetables and a little fruit, and soon you will find that these are really sweet. the things in boxes, wrappers, bags and cans are the problem, organic or not, and are really expensive in the long run.
the only poblem is having to buy these, or grow these so you have FRESH food.
nuts, (except peanuts which contain 26 mycotoxins like corn does, )are good too.
really.

anyone wanting to avoid grocery stores should look for delivery. many towns have organic food delivery, often at no charge. this way you can avoid the stress of shopping in toxic environments.

I gave up on healthy food a long time ago. Luckily, I live in a rural area and we always have a garden (which helps). I warn you guys not to assume that organic food is actually organic. There is one farmer in my area who has grown "organic" food for years, but all the farmers know that his crop is NOT organic. He sprays his with chemicals just like everyone else, but does it at daybreak hoping that no one will notice.

Anyway, I guess what really gets me is that there is nothing safe to drink. I know I should drink more water, but it is loaded with flouride and chlorine. There are filters which claim to remove this, but do they really?

Unfortunately my health is NOT good. One meal at Applebees/Uno's/whatever your fav restaurant is and I will be on the ground in pain. It hurts my stomach, my head, my bladder and emotionally I feel like death. Only a handful of restaurants will even tell you the ingredients of their food. That should be the first clue to you that's it's terrible. Most steaks are sprinkled with MSG, salad dressings are loaded with HFCS and the meals are loaded with sodium which causes water retention problems with me.

I don't eat organic food because it's not readily available here. Of course if I had a store that sold organic food in this area, I probably would do that. I do the best I can though.

My diet consists mainly of salads (Tons of salads), vegetables of every type, eggs, cheese, sprouted hemp bread and small amounts of turkey and chicken. It gets boring very quickly, but when I am in pain the following night from eating bad foods it gets me on track! All of which you can't eat when in a hurry. I guess a piece of hemp bread but that doesn't do a whole lot on its own.

The closest Whole Foods to me is about 50 miles away and the local farm market here is total garbage! They have more packaged garbage than produce. It is such a joke. They have every type of cookie and cake you could imagine and the smallest produce section. lol Their meat is such low quality that it made my dog get sick!

Those of you who know it's bad but gave up, I can't do that. It's double think. I can't know that the food is bad, but then eat it anyway. Aside from the mental and emotional aspect of it, my health is terrible for being 23.

If I eat anything with high fructose corn syrup, hidden MSG or aspartame I get a massive migraine for hours. Many other things are wrong with me, that no one has been able to explain. So eating healthy is a must at this point. Some nights I am in pain for hours from something that didn't agree with my bladder.

As for a water filter, I have a very nice one. I have the one Alex Jones advertises and it is absolutely amazing!
www.berkeywater.com

My husband and I have been using it for a few years and it actually helps me to drink more water because it tastes good. We have well water so in some way very blessed (no chlorine or fluoride). However, it has VERY high amounts of iron in it which makes the water taste terrible. They also sell a shower filter and post filter element to get rid of the fluoride. If you do all that just make sure you aren't using fluoride toothpaste. :o

Thanks for letting me vent a little. :)

PS: Everyone should test their bath tub for lead. I got lead poisoning from mine. :p You can buy the test kits from Lowes in the paint section!

You're looking for food? Then what the heck are doing in a grocery store..? There's no food in there. :)

I understand how you feel. I do not eat dairy so it's extremely difficult because things you would never think would have dairy in them, have dairy.

So, believe me, I truly understand how you feel. I don't go out much to be honest and if I do, I annoy the person taking my order which makes me feel unsafe.. lol..

Does it remove fluoride? If so, then I will check it further. I didn't see it specifically mention fluoride on my quick scan of their website. I'm in the market for one of those.

You have to get the post filter element to get rid of the fluoride. How scary is that!

Here is a picture of the filter with the post filter elements installed (the white ones). It says it adds about 15-20% more time to the filtering process.

I should take a picture of my filter so you can see the difference. The top chamber on mine is disgusting from the Iron and the bottom is crystal clear!

I too used to live a long way away but I went once a week and stocked up. These bags for keeping food in are fantastic, they will keep everything fresh 3x longer. They can be reused many times....http://www.evertfresh.com/

Thanks Birdlady. I'll check it out. It is frigtening how hard it is to find any beverages without fluoride. They REALLY must care about our teeth! Now I know the real purpose of the "drink 8 glasses of water a day" campaign.

Oh yeah. haha They care about our teeth so much! :p

Here is a picture of our Berkey Light. We have been using it for a few years. However, we clean it out every few months because of the amount of rust that builds up on the filters.

That is why I never drank water. Look at how disgusting the top chamber is compared to the bottom where it's been filtered through!

Am I the only one that believes that organic food is actually worse for you than food that's been grown in nitrogen fertilizers, sprayed with pesticides, and then treated with radiation? :>

dang. no offense but I am glad I dont have to live like the OP.

I just eat whatever taste good.

Ignorance isn't bliss. Just because you have your eyes closed doesn't mean the world isn't there.

It will catch up with you one day. I used to eat anything I wanted to as well including Pizza Hut, McDonalds, Wendy's, diet soda etc. I was always thin (120 lbs at 5'8"), so I thought I was okay. Fast forward 6 years, I am 23 years old with more health problems than my grandparents. My sister was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor at the age of 25. I have to take this crap seriously or I will be dead. You should too.

I found out a few days ago I have fluoride poisoning and bromide poisoning from years of drinking chlorinated and fluoridated water. As well as the large amount of white flour and soda I drank. Now my hair is falling out in clumps because of my ignorance when I was a teenager. Don't let that happen to you. My dream of being a model came to a crashing end when all this started to happen to me. So yep this has consumed my life.
