Do you get frustrated when it comes to finding food to eat?

BL, curious did you and your sister drink diet soda? Please consider 100% raw vegan and raw milk and wheatgrass. An excellent place...http://www.annwigmore.com/. Also the most powerful oxidizer out there can destroy all toxins and poisons and pathogens, heavy metals. please read the downloadable books..http://miraclemineral.org/index.htm... BL I firmly believe as long we are alive that the body is able to heal every thing. It has been said seek and ye shall find, there are no buts in that statement. I hope you and your sister can regain the best health again.:)

Ignorance isn't bliss. Just because you have your eyes closed doesn't mean the world isn't there.

It will catch up with you one day. I used to eat anything I wanted to as well including Pizza Hut, McDonalds, Wendy's, diet soda etc. I was always thin (120 lbs at 5'8"), so I thought I was okay. Fast forward 6 years, I am 23 years old with more health problems than my grandparents. My sister was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor at the age of 25. I have to take this crap seriously or I will be dead. You should too.

I found out a few days ago I have fluoride poisoning and bromide poisoning from years of drinking chlorinated and fluoridated water. As well as the large amount of white flour and soda I drank. Now my hair is falling out in clumps because of my ignorance when I was a teenager. Don't let that happen to you. My dream of being a model came to a crashing end when all this started to happen to me. So yep this has consumed my life.

Ack. Sorry to hear that. A friend of mine has multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and a couple more chronic diseases at 26.

Well, the best thing to do about fluoride and bromide poisoning is to supplement with iodine, first because there's a good chance you're deficient in it as well, second because it'll compete with the other halogens and get them out of your body. I use Iodoral (google it -- it provides both iodine and iodide, since some tissues need the elemental iodine and some need iodide, and it's not as easy for your body to convert one to the other as was once thought) and also use a lot of sea salt (I like Celtic Sea Salt the best, but any unrefined sea salt or rock salt should work fine.) That should help get your body some of the minerals it needs, as well as the chloride helping to remove fluoride and bromide.

Standard disclaimer: I am not a doctor.

That is how I found out I had fluoride and bromide poisoning. :)

I went to a doctor and he immediately put me on Iodoral. Never told me that it could give me severe detoxing symptoms. All he said was "some people don't tolerate it as well as others". haha One complaint about my doctor is he always underestimates stuff by saying only a handful of his patients gets symptoms from it. Well I am always one of those in his handful. I stopped taking it because I felt like I was dying, but never told him that I stopped it. lol

Well after some more research, I found out that you get detox symptoms because the bromide and fluoride levels start to rise in your blood. The iodine pushes the bromide and fluoride from your thyroid and other places in the body. I have started back on the Iodoral and quite honestly it's sickening. Some of the symptoms are so terrible, that it's hard taking the pill every day.

BL, curious did you and your sister drink diet soda?

The first thing I learned was how deadly that stuff was. I guess that was my wakeup call. My boyfriend (now my husband) told me how bad it was. I immediately did a detox for it and I haven't touched it since. (about 4 years now) The really sick thing is I was having withdrawal symptoms from that stuff. Very scary!

Yes my sister drank that stuff even after I told her how bad it was. She was drinking it in the hospital when she was diagnosed with her brain tumor. Let's just say I lost it in the hospital room. I don't have good relations with my family ever since that day. They refuse to listen to me even though they are all deathly ill. My mom and brother STILL drink it. As they say you can lead the horse to water, but can't make him drink.

Thanks for the links and I will look into it! I am quite desperate at this point. If I had to dance with a monkey on my head while juggling 2 cats every Friday at 1pm to get better, I would!! :p

I should re title this to Dana's ranting thread. LOL

Hell yea I get frustrated. It's difficult finding anything in a regular grocery store that's not processed crap. Even health food stores aren't all that great, and are usually pretty overpriced.

Best thing to do is buy from farmer's markets and find farms and co-ops in your area that can supply real, wholesome, organic food.

I plan on going in on half the price with my dad for the biggest best berkey filter.

We buy from the Amish grocery store in the summer.....they know what they are doing. But we are sorta SOL in the winter. Time to grow our own......food. And really it doesn't take a ton of land to grow enough food to sustain you.

My husband is obsessed with the Paleo diet, I am not there yet....I am still addicted to dairy and grains. It's hard enough to try and get the trinity of evil out of your diet.....msg, trans fats and high fructose corn syrup.

But chin up, fear not, keep plugging away, there is goodness on the other side of this dismal abyss......hope, faith and don't forget to bless the sustenance you do have.

Peace

Birdlady, thanks for the pictures. Just wondering how often you have to change the filters & is ordering them the only way to get them? I have looked at them on the internet but for some reason thought they were elec. or batt. powered.

Nope.
I live Santa Cruz, California.
Loads of organic, fresh, vegan choices for yummy yummy eating.
:p

Sorry, just kidding around. It's hard, definitely. But the health awareness trend will spread out from Cali for sure, as long we defeat the New World Order of course.

I'm with ya.

Oh man, I feel your pain! I have Lyme disease, so I have to be careful. I care a small jar of oil and vinegar (ex. virgin olive oil mixed with Raw Apple Cider Vinegar) for dressing and a tiny shaker of RealSalt. That way, I can get a salad and add my own dressing. I try to order something with no sugar, white flour, pork, or shellfish. Other than that, I just count on it affecting my health and try to make up for it somewhere else.

We buy produce from the organic section (even though we are dirt poor at the moment). You can order health food stuff online if needed. We get raw milk and free range eggs at a local farm (ours is certified, but lots of farms will give it to you and let you donate some money or let you buy part of the cow or something to make it legal) and my dad gives me ground venison (he got 3 deer this year, so we'll have meat for the next year!)

We make almost everything from scratch. I didn't use to know how to do that, but Sue Gregg cookbooks really helped.

I also have a lot of trouble not judging people or wanting to "help" them understand when I see the junk in their grocery cart. AGH!

Another thing that might really help you eating at someone else's house is an Apple Cider Vinegar drink. (http://lymeadehealth.blogspot.com/20...rst-steps.html ) You could even ask to leave a bottle of healthy vinegar at your relative's house. It will help your body cope with not eating so well. I try to drink that or some Kombucha before I leave my house to eat somewhere. It's got a lot of enzymes to help you digest stuff. Also, keep in mind that poor quality makes you want more (your body is looking for nutrients) but just stop anyway with one portion. If it's someone's house, bring some fruit or something for a snack later on.

Sometimes, I really feel like our culture will never survive this assault on our food and health. It's a lot to comprehend. Or I get really mad and feel lied to and knowing the lies I believed made me vunerable to this dreadful disease. Yep, this is one deep rabbit hole.

Hope some of these ideas help. I've been struggling with this a long time, but feel like I'm getting better at it. Feel free to visit my health blog or PM if I can help some more.

The solution is make more money so you can shop for expensive healthy food, or kill these goddamn government subsidies for garbage food. Either subsidize what's healthy or kill the process entirely (my vote is for the latter).

We are lucky enough in the Bay Area to have vibrant farmers markets all year round. Nearly all of our foods comes from local farmers markets.

I lived in NM for a time, and Santa Fe had a good farmers market year round also. It is awesome in the summer and fall.

One good tip imo for eating healthy - don't eat ANYTHING with a label on it.

I know that's easier said than done, but actually after a few years of practice we eat very little things with a label.

/small rant

Every single day I have this enormous amount of frustration and anger. I guess I am just walking around pissed off every single day because of how terrible things are.

Just a simple trip to the store and I get ticked off, annoyed and usually find myself walking out of the store without a single food item. I see those jugs of water with extra fluoride and feel like punching a hole in the wall. I see fat people putting diet soda in their cart and feel like shaking them. I see the workers and they look like they want to die. /sigh

I go to my mother in law's house for dinner and EVERYTHING has MSG or hidden MSG (disodium inosinate, disodium guanylate, "natural flavors", autolyzed yeast extract etc) in it. I refuse to eat and then it becomes a big deal because I never want to go there for holidays or birthdays. I am the weird one for not wanting to eat the delicious "homemade" food.

I go to the mall and there is absolutely nothing I can eat at the food court or in a vending machine. You can't even get a coffee at McDonalds because there are preservatives in it! wtf!?

I go to a restaurant and you think you are being healthy by ordering a salad, but it's full of MSG, high fructose corn syrup and the salad dressing probably has Splenda in it or aspartame.

I am pissed off. Does anyone else feel this way? Or perhaps people don't know how poisoned our food is? Or perhaps people don't care how poisoned it is?

Help!
:( :)

What do you guys do when you find yourself in a situation where there is nothing SAFE to eat? I am okay at home, but when I am out, I usually don't eat until I get home.

Jugs of water filled with extra fluoride? What do you mean?

Anyways, i'm another Raw Vegan 4 Paul!! :) I've been raw vegan since 9/01/2007. I worried about making it threw the winter, but it looks like i'm going to make it!!! Being raw vegan is definitely easier in the summer!

I live near a food co-op where i "work" 16 hours a month for a 26 percent discount which bring the cost down a lot. I eat alot of smoothies, fruit and salads.

I'm 23 and canceled my health insurance last month. There's no way I'm going back to another conventional doctor ever.. No pills or Shots or Vaccines for me! Yippe!!!

I try not to eat processed crap. I drink diet soda as it doesn't effect me. I feel ok with aspartame since its just 2 amino acids, alot of people do argue with me about it though.

Wow, what a great thread! I just started eating a raw diet, very new to all of this. I appreciate all the links and info.

I have read that Iodoral will detox the bromide and flouride from your system. In order to help with that, you should drink a lot of water when you first start Iodoral, and I've also read to urinate frequently, to allow it all to be removed from your system. But I don't think those symptoms should last for an extended period of time. If so, check with your doctor.

Too bad it is very costly to eat healthy. I am a diabetic and I am frequently pissed off that I can not have chocolate cake. I miss sugar. sigh

Oh man, I completely understand how you feel.

Luckily I have a lot of health food stores around here. Generally stuff is more expensive, but there are plenty of reasonably priced items if you look around. I don't know what the health food situation is like where you are. (EDIT: Now I do!! Sorry about that!)

I dunno, sometimes I'll take in a little poison here or there when I am with the family or a special occasion. I know it's bad, and I am convinced that the reason other people pig out and get a lot more hungry than me is because their body is addicted to those chemical additives. It's really sad. Even my roommates who generally eat very healthy are addicted because they'll eat a few bad things a week. I try and keep that stuff out of my system almost all of the time and it works out a lot better for me. (EDIT: But if I do eat the toxic stuff, I don't get sick like you do, but I do feel a lot better when I eat healthy)

I've heard stevia actually helps diabetics..helps stabalize the blood-sugar..have you tried it?? it's all natural, made from a plant in south america. it's not quite sugar, but it tastes a lot better than the chemical sweetners. I'm pretty sure you could make something like chocolate cake with it (maybe carob? or I think you could just use straight cocoa, stevia, yogurt, eggs, flour, vanilla?)

Just shop at Trader Joe's or some other organic food store and cook it yourself. Corporate food is mostly crap. It's time consuming and a little pricey, but you'll know that there's no nasty stuff in it.

I can testify that stevia is good tasting, and a good sugar substitute. :D
