Did you guys watch Revolution last night?

One big bone I have to pick is the actual destruction of the state. There is no way the USA would disappear without modern technology. Perhaps be diminished if the Western states decided to go their own way. But there is no way it would collapse altogether. There are plenty of dangerous weapons that could be adapted for less technological situations. Remember both the repeating rifle and the Gatling Gun were Civil War era inventions.

Loved V...wanted to love Terranova but it was too utopian-ish for me. I still miss Heroes. :(

V was just the Reptilians trying to get us used to the idea of being ruled openly by our reptilian shape shifting overlords!

(yeah I know those are Silurians. But these are far better than the crappy drawings you get in a Google search)

JJ Abrams also did that show "Chase" about US Marshalls, I believe. It was pretty good but the lead actress was a snooze then it was cancelled.

I watched it last week. It was on PSN for free a few days before the premier.

I thought it was okay. I have to agree with the above post about the people's ages being distracting. Not to mention the nice clothing and teeth everyone has. I wasn't that impressed with it. I might give it a couple of more episodes to determine if it is something I would watch regularly.

I wasn't really interested to watch it, but my wife Dvr'd it and asked if I wanted to try it out.

Overall, I give it a C+. There are some problems I have with it, but it was good to see some of what they might try to do.

Spoilers ahead.

I really didn't like the lead character, the girl, Charlotte/Charlie. She's full of rebellion and angst, but it seems out of place. Her dad was portrayed as a good dad, and I don't see why she would develop the personality the story gives her.

The emphasis on "family" seems forced, and the writers know it. They wrote the uncle as being out-of-touch with family ties, and not caring that his only niece was on some mission. But yet we're supposed to believe that Charlie has this idea that loose blood lines are the ultimate tie to other people.

The notion that "the whole world is dangerous" was similarly forced.

The "event" was set up to be an EMP type thing, but for some reason internal combustion engines don't work anymore. That'd be fine if that were consistent, but then we see muzzle-loaders that work on the same fire/explosive/pressure reaction that engines work on. The science of one can't work without the science of the other, so whatever "explanation" there is for the driving premise of the show in inconsistent and flawed. But knowing JJ Abrams, there won't ever be an explanation. It will just be "things that we show working work for some magical reason, and things that we show that don't work don't work for some magical reason." This was hinted at in the nerd's questioning of the "students" as to why physics didn't work anymore. There won't be an intellectual answer given, but they will string it along as something that can be "found out."

And as others said, the whole "the govt failed so there was a power vacuum so there were violent gangs ruling the whole country/world" was really disturbing. There's no reason that the govt would fall, and there's no reason why peaceful solutions wouldn't be found anywhere except that these things were necessary for the plot.

The things I liked were seeing some action sequences that weren't just car chases and gun fights. Swordplay on network TV was interesting to watch, even if the outcome was entirely predictable. Some of the characters were well played, despite the stilted roles written for them.

I'll keep watching for a while to see where it goes, but it's not a show I'll be upset if I miss or it get cancelled.

Ditto on Falling Skies.

If you liked "Heroes," (which I thought should have ended with Season 1) you might like "Alphas."

Dr Who (of course!), Warehouse 13, Fringe - all though those last two could wind themselves down at anytime now.

we didn't have a plethora of faraday boxes on hand?

if an EMP event fried our civilization's communication
devises in a scenario not unlike DARK ANGEL, will
episode two take us closer to WHY the event went
down? i looked at the episode on HULU rather happily.

I'm guessing we won't find out why the power went out until the season finale next year. That's how these shows usually go.

I am on the fence about this show. I was mostly let down for some of the already stated reasons.

15 years later and it appears we are still able to make sexy clothes, not utilitarian clothes. Farmers would certainly have loose fitting clothes to work in. Nice haircuts for everyone, etc.

The script seemed a little forced, they did not spend much time building any back story or depth.

It is my hope the writers will get the ball rolling in the next couple of episodes.

I suspect they will do flashbacks now that Uncle Bruce Lee/Chuck Norris has been introduced.

It's an action-adventure TV show set in a dystopian future. How realistic do you expect it to be?
I thought it was decent. The "militia" is not how we think of the word. It's just a group of thugs who claim to be the government, and of course they outlawed guns and collect taxes. I actually thought that was kinda cool. I was telling my wife it's the same way in real life, just on a larger scale.

I think a cross between Lost and The Hunger Games is a good way to describe it. But like I said, it's a TV show. In fact, it's sort of a guilty-pleasure adventure show. I don't think it's meant to be intellectually stimulating except for the little bit of mystery.

I expect every show to play by its own rules.

If you are going to tell me it's been fifteen years, and the uncle has not met his niece, but she was around just after the initial event, as was her brother, and her dad was talking to her uncle on the phone... so why am I expected to believe he would be surprised at her existing?

If you are going to tell me it's been fifteen years, so that the main character is probably 17-19, then don't make her look like:

(Note: They have Pantene and curling irons in the future, obviously, not to mention lots of floss and toothpaste.)

I could get it if, in typical "ooooh it's mysterious" fashion, maybe people who were exposed to the event after a certain age aged slower or something, but apparently others aged at normal rates.

Oh and seriously... no one caught that, fifteen years later, there's an opened inhaler of some sort that stops asthma attacks? FIFTEEN YEARS LATER?!?

Person of Interest is my favorite show at the moment.. Christopher Nolan and JJ Abrams..

I like Fringe..but this is it's last season and it's going to be a short one. Walking Dead will be coming back in October.
