Did Ron insinuate that he might run 3rd party?

This is one of the most powerful trump cards a candidate can play, and few can do so and have people take the threat seriously. Paul is one of those rare candidates. If he stays in the race through the convention, which only one or two other candidates will, he will not only have a fair share of delegates but could use this to get a seat at the table.

It was a tongue in cheek comment. "Maybe they should be worried about me running 3rd party. It would keep them on their toes."

I think that at some time it might be a good idea for Ron Paul to say that there's definitely a chance that he'll run 3rd party if he doesn't get the Republican nomination. It will generate a lot of talk about him, he'll get a lot of air time, and it will get Republicans thinking that if they don't vote Ron Paul it will be a Democrat as POTUS.

What do you mean by "seat at the table"?

He has never said he wouldn't run 3rd party, and I like the response he gave. My interpretation was that people better start shaping up in the Republican party or he will run 3rd party to save the party and the nation. I will vote for him in november even if he tells me to vote for some other candidate up there.

That is what amazes me, some people don't really care what Dr. Paul's platform is... or what he says, or how he acts. This was a huge victory..

I'm with Dr. Paul all the way. If he goes Libertarian, I'm there.
I agree it doesn't matter what party he's running for there all sell outs.

They may not except Ron with open arms but it doesn't matter we will. Regardless of where he's running.

He may not have a choice lol. He started something and he needs to do WHATEVER it takes.

That's exactly how I feel. We've done amazing things in the last ten months, and we're going to do even more amazing things in the next ten. There's no stopping now- Ron will win this election, independent run or otherwise!

I'd like to see him punish the Republican party and run as an Independent or Libertarian.. and steal votes from the party. We'll have to make a sacrifice that results in higher taxes, higher spending and entitlements... but there will be a partial return to a slightly more responsible foreign policy.

If we keep flooding Dr. PAul w/ money, he'll HAVE to keep running. He won't let us down. Donate today.

In a general with Hillary, Ron, and Mitt, Ron would win.

I think Ron Paul would run Republican on the third party ticket.

After all he is the only republican, all the others are RINO liberals and globalists. They basically hi-jacked the party.

If he wins a few primaries, he can negotiate for the presidential nomination. Even if he doesn't he could ask for the vice presidency, a Cabinet position, or something like that, if he really wants it. Not saying they'd give it to him, but they'd seriously consider appeasing him if it means avoiding a conservative third party challenge.

I think I finally understand why they keep asking Dr Paul about running as a third-party candidate.

The establishment WANTS him to do that.

Why? Because he'd siphon antiwar votes away from the Democrats, who would handily defeat McCain, Romney, Huckabee or Giuliani in a two-way contest. The majority of the country opposes the war in particular and the neocons in general, so they only way they can retain power is by splitting the opposition.

...and that's why, unless there is a clear chance for victory, I would NOT want him to run on a third-party ticket.

But I'm an optimist. I think the question is premature, because it is still possible for Dr Paul to win the Republican nomination. ;)

A win would be unlikely, but it would absolutely ensure a Republican loss.

No way, a win would be a guarantee if he an third party. Put it this way, if Ron Paul is on the general election ticket, he will be the president.

Ron paul definetley hinted that it's a possibility if the party keeps alienating him

"I have no intention but I hope the party worries JUST IN CASE"

The GOP won't win with a stay-in-Iraq candidate so he should do it... GOP will loose either way
