Did anyone watch the Colbert Report last night?

I've always liked Stephen. I consider him one of my few heroes. However, last night I felt disappointed in him.

He was discussing how the candidates had been making politcal ads directed at the Latino community (I'm one of them), and he said that one candidate wasn't showing his: so Stephen made Ron Paul an ad. I can't find a link to it.
If you didn't see it, it kind of seemed like an attack ad. I don't even know why Colbert did it. :( Hasn't Ron Paul received enough negative attention? Or should I be content with the fact that Colbert is still discussing him?

I liked Stephen's segment about Ron Paul complaining about future events last Thursday, but I thought that this one was in poor taste. I don't even think the audience liked it that much.

And this after Jon Stewart says that a McCain-Obama election would be a "nice tonic" for America.

I said it before and I'll say it again, the fake media has turned into the "real" media. I hope this is related to the writer's strike. I still have hope for these comedy shows.

All in all, I'm down one less hero. Not cool, Stephen.

I wouldn't sweat the bit, they all can't be winners. Maybe RP should go make a visit on his show to put him on notice.

My question is...

What are they afraid of?

They can't be taken off the air, they're both VERY popular shows! They can almost do no wrong (except in my eyes). They will always have a fan base. They should be independent of the system, it gives them credibility.

I found Dr. Paul through Stephen's show, and now I feel like the whole world is turning their backs to him.

I'm so glad I'm able to rev up my spirits by turning to this blog, the Daily Paul, and ronpaul2008.co m. This blackout's really starting to affect my psychological outlook of the world!

You know what, maybe I was wrong.

Okay, I have no sound on my computer, so I could only read it again, and that was kind of funny. I just don't know what it meant? What does it mean?! Is Colbert implying that Ron Paul's a hick or something? Chupacabra?? What the hell is this sketch supposed to mean?!

Yes, the sound says something like "Where does Ron Paul get his inspiration from? His family!" and teh Chucapabra is listed as one of his relatives.

It wasn't offensive, but not terribly funny either.

I'm justhappy to see Paul included!

And happy to know that the immigration people hate the fact that Romney has a spanish language commercial. :)

The commercial is saying that RP takes inspiration from his family - who appear to all be nucking futs... therefore RP is nuts too.

But don't forget - Colbert's character is supposed to be that of the entrenched GOP pundit. Based on the previous sketch ("it would be funny if it wasn't so sad"), and the fact that it is so over the top, I'm pretty sure that again it's supposed to be an ironic thing.

This one seems to be quite a bit more obtuse than the last, but maybe yesterday has made some of us a little touchy

______

You know something? I'm an immigrant. LEGAL. Living here over 37 years. I learned to speak English. Course I came here at age 5. My mother was 24 years old and she learned to speak English and always worked with english speaking folks.

I have NO PROBLEM with Ron Paul NOT having any Ads in spanish, directed to the Hispanic Community.

It's PHONEY to me to have a Politician who isn't fluently bilingual, trying to win votes just by having a spanish ad...VOTE FOR ME, LISTEN I CAN SPEAK SPANISH.

I'm in NYC and BLOOMBERG's Spanish HURTS BY EARS.

I thought it was quite amusing. Ridiculing Hillary while once again putting Dr. Paul's name out there. The show is SATIRE! Nothing bad can come of this... just like Dr. Paul predicting the future in a recent episode.

Gawd I thought that was funny as hell. I guess people still havent learned that anytime Colbert mocks you its a good thing, anytime he agrees with you its a bad thing for example his love affair with Mike Huckabee.

exactly.

seems like alot of folks are missing the whole point of the Colbert Report.

meh it was comedy, i laughed. And ultimately i think it was supposed to make fun of all the candidates ads towards latinos.

They ran this tonight on Fox News (they called it "the craziest campaign ad ever"), and everyone had a good laugh.

Too bad the only time Fox News can mention Ron Paul is in a completely negative light. I mean, immediately after airing the video (and between chuckles) the host managed to get out "Fair and Balanced".

My question is, if they are so "Fail and Balanced", why won't they show the video of the Ghoul that we've made (obviously in parody) that compares him to the classic vampire? Or any of the other myriad of videos making fun of the other candidates? (That's a rhetorical question, BTW).
