This will be a nice litmus test for the media in the whole Straw poll matters if someone not named Paul wins vs they don't matter if Paul wins. If/when they downplay Paul's win in Iowa but play up Cain's victory in Alabama, it'll make John Stewart's day.
Last time Romney only recieved 3%, he doesn't get any vots this time, hard to believe?
I just got home from this event. Every other person was wearing a Paul t-shirt at this event! Ron easily got over 50% of the vote. It was great and Ron gave a good speech too. Lot's of applause and standing ovations.
The campaign had a caucus training later on in the morning. This was very informational especially those not previously involved in the caucus process. It was a great time to connect with other activists from my area as well. This event really motivated me and fired up many others. I heard some great ideas from other activists from around the state. I'll create a thread later on with some ideas for the grassroots utilize.
Mike Heath, state director of Iowa and Dmitri (deputy chairman of campaign) stated that Iowa has always been a important to the campaign. But since the caucus date has moved to Jan. 3 it has become the top priority. The campaign is now strongly emphasizing Iowa. They are in it to win it. Nothing less is than 2nd is good.
"nothing less than 2nd is good"
in my humble opinion, nothing less than 1st is good. I predict the media would treat a second in the Iowa caucus just like they did the straw poll.

This is very encouraging! +rep
I'm glad they are informing people of the Caucus process and firing up the grassroots. All the activism humanly possible is needed in Iowa![]()
Forgot to mention: campaign is focusing on turnout, turnout, turnout! They are working very hard to identify supporters and use the existing campaign structure with volunteer help to get people to the caucus. They have many precinct captains and are filling the remaining positions. I am very excited and very encouraged.
The Phone from Home program works. This is the best way for out of state supporters to help the campaign right now. We need to identify support and plug them into the campaign. Simple yet effective. We have the numbers to win we just need to get them to the caucus.
