DeMint "unlikely" to endorse anyone... But..

If he was smart he would think about how very likely Rand Paul is running for president in the future. And how Rand Paul will be VERY popular with the Republican base. Sen. DeMint would be wise jump on the bandwagon now while it's still considered noble as opposed to later when it's already cool.

That's if he interested at all in a future career in the white house or whatever...

wtf? he says he would be comfortable endorsing any of the candidates yet says if the race later becomes a conservative vs. non-conservative....?

I think he's saying he'd endorse the nominee, but that if the choice of nominee became black and white between a RINO and conservative, he'd think about weighing in to help the conservative be the nominee.

Endorsing no one is better than endorsing Herman Cain or whoever else is the flavor of the week I guess. I'd only be upset if he was leaning towards Paul but didn't want to stick his neck out.

I think he doesn't want to get into the middle of an intra conservative battle, since those are his base as well. If someone good, with a chance, emerges against Romney, I think he'd endorse. I think he'd endorse Ron if Ron were the conservative standing against Romney or Huntsman. Don't know how he feels about Perry.

DeMint is not running for re-election AND claims, to paraphrase, that unlike everyone else in Washington, he has no ambitions of being President. So it's hard to say what his game is exactly. Don't expect a DeMint endorsement of Ron though. It's only even possible if Paul is a clear and present danger to win the nomination and that means a significant increase in poll numbers.

Jim DeMint is better than 98 of the Senators in the Senate. Or 97, depending on how you count Mike Lee.

Lee's better than DeMint.

He endorsed Romney last time because McCain was even worse. It is obvious he doesn't like Romney.

Yes, we must become the anti-Romney.

DeMint called for taking Romneycare national last go-round, he didn't exactly hate Romney.

Obviously we need a significant increase in poll numbers as we approach primaries in the states being polled.

DeMint is playing it safe. That works in our favor for now. It's tough to see DeMint endorse Ron Paul because DeMint doesn't agree with Ron's foreign policy.

Maybe we should not care so much who he endorses...I am tired of waiting for people to throw us these meager bones.

It's his country too - if he hasn't got the courage to stand for the most electable, honest, and serious cadidate then he can sit back and enjoy another 4 years of O'bailout.

BTW - I live in South Carolina...I am quit aware of who Jim DeMint is.

DeMint will probably wait until theres only one tea party candidate left. Why would he take sides at this point?

but he doesn't agree with Romney's FISCAL and unconservative policy. I also don't think he is a neocon, he is a national security conservative, which is different. National security conservatives just need to believe the fiscal risk to our economy is actually more dire a threat to our national security than not being in so many nations full time. Neocons just want a bigger military, regardless, so they have a bigger sphere of political influence. They LIKE big government on that score.

I think that's true. I just wish Demint would realize that the biggest national security risk is debt!
