DeMint: "Divided party" if GOP doesn't listen to Ron Paul (tube added)

DeMint is trying to win non-believers over by stating that domestic economic policy is more important than foreign policy, especially if you look at the enormous outlays tied to the mandatory spending responsibilities. Even DeMint admitted as much in his book. If you don't curb expenditures and stop currency manipulation, we won't have a defense force period. Many people don't understand this. You could eradicate the DoD completely and we'd still be running a deficit.

I'd like to give Jim the benefit here and believe this (bolded). Other than his book, has he stated this publicly? Does his book really state this?

It ain't gonna happen. The minute he did that, the media would be all over him for be a hypocrite/flip-flopper.

Demint is starting to be remind me of that girl in High School. When she walks by she winks and smiles at you. She's always telling her friends how cute, funny, and smart she thinks you are to the point where everyone in school suspects she really likes you. But nothing ever comes of it because she's the girl of the star quarterback, and it just wouldn't look right for her to be with you.

I don't think DeMint has ever said he agrees with the current foreign policy. Just because he disagrees with Ron's stance, doesn't automatically mean he agrees with the current policy. I'm hopeful that he will come around, but if people harrangue and insult him instead of encourage him, I can guarantee he'll run in the opposite direction. We need to show a little more patience with people and let them come over in their own way and in their own time. It behooves this movement to be encouraging and informative to the slow movers.

I'll find the quote. But he stated in his book, that he no longer believes foreign policy supersedes domestic policy anymore. He gets it unlike some of these republican voters. That's why he tried to sneak through a senate version of Ron's intact Federal Reserve transparency bill via a parliamentary exploit.

Don't try to alienate people like Jim DeMint. We can't just be arbitrarily rejecting the support, even soft support, because the person doing the supporting disagrees with one or two of RP's points. Sometimes people around here seem to be saying that anyone who does not agree with Ron Paul on every single issue is completely unworthy of our time. Even if it's a big issue they disagree on, we should embrace people on the fence, not ostracize and shun them.

Considering how many politicians and pundits out there are quite happy to call RP a joke and a fraud, we should be thankful for people like DeMint, because he clearly takes RP and his ideas seriously.
