As with Iowa, the Nevada GOP Precinct caucuses are electing delegates to the County Conventions. That is all. No national delegates are allocated in today's caucuses. If the Nevada GOP were electing delegates to the national convention, they would have been penalized as were WY, NH, MI, SC, and FL. The March 5 county conventions will elect delegates to the April 26 state convention. Only then are the national convention delegates are elected.

Delegates elected today were unpledged. According to early reports, the Ron Paul delegate candidates did much better than the 13% received by Paul in the poll. In many precincts, Paul delegates WON OUTRIGHT MAJORITIES. The campaign is currently compiling precinct reports from around the state, but that may take a few days.

MAKE SURE YOU KNOW YOUR STATE'S RULES ON ELECTING DELEGATES AND MAKE SURE YOU PARTICIPATE. THAT'S THE KEY

Isnt this the same source that keeps showing that we will win a state the day before its primary? Nontheless good news

This is what I've been saying here all afternoon... Ron Paul is winning the delegates, not Mitt Romney.

Not really, remember that Mitt took over 50% of the vote.. not awesome at all. :(

No disrespect but you dont see the big picture. This is delegates, not an election. So we dont have the 16% of our population to include in the INDEPENDENT VOTE because their votes were not allowed by the republican party caucus rules.

Do you ever have anything positive to add?

Anyway, the popular straw poll vote doesnt mean anything at all as far as delegates are concerned. Maybe you should do your homework before you comment. Especially negatively.

You're missing the big picture. The vote today means very little. It was just a straw poll. The precinct delegates conduct the vote that matters, because they are the people that elect national delegates. RP supporters filled many, if not most, of the precinct delegate slots today. They will elect RP supporters as national delegates. And when/if the convention is brokered, those national delegates will support RP...not Robme

Often! But with 50% of the precinct delegates you can expect MR taking most county delegates, i.e. eventually taking most national delegates. That isnt' negative...

Rarely, especially when people don't understand how the system works... but they will figure it out when they realize how MR's 18 delegates will affect RP's 4. My mission is to get RP elected, which means I have to drag his fringe supporters kicking and screaming into the light. IT's hard work.. but I am up for it. And no I don't need thanks... I am doing it for RP.

those are not real numbers though

Its quite obvious that YOU are the one that doesnt understand how the system works.

Right. The 4 delegates that were "projected" to us are based solely on a direct proportion of voters. CNN's assuming that if we got 14% of the vote, we'll end up getting about 14% of the delegates...

...as we're saying though: that's an incorrect assumption on their part. We're beginning to get word that WE actually got the majority of delegates. NOT Romney. This means that, come convention time, we essentially won NV. That's the great thing about caucuses!

Of course, these were county delegates (or what not) and now it's resting on NV RP supporters to organize and elect RP supporters to the state and national delegate level.

If they are successful, then we actually WON Nevada!

Quoted for irony/hilarity.

Now a serious post, it would REALLY be a great talking point to be able to say "He CAN win, he won NEVADA!" That's why these caucuses are so important. They reward a smaller, vocal, passionate group of supporters more than primaries. Gee, sound like anybody you know? :)

I have posted a longer response in one of the many numerous posts like this.. Getting sleepy so here it is again, in short. With such a large amont of PD you can assume a large amount of CD, in turn giving you a large amount of ND... Mitt will probably get 18 to 20+ delegates, maybe more. There will be some flux due to county makeup, and if some candidates drop out, but most likely that would benefit MR, not RP.

Now stop it! It is not negative to know how the system works...

I'll ask you again, just in this thread now. How are you connecting the voting with delegates?

My precinct in Pahrump Nevada: 5 of 5 delegates for Ron Paul, 5 of 5 alternates for Ron Paul. We also got a Ron Paul majority in every other precinct in Pahrump. We also beat Romney and spanked McCain in the straw poll. Pahrump Nevada chooses freedom!!! Thanks to a lot of really hard work by a lot of dedicated people, and two visits to our town by Ron Paul.
