Delegate standing

Any place where one can scrutinize these delegate counts? Was just listening to discussion on Fox saying that Paul stands no chance of getting delegates and they are still listing him dead last. They really did a number on him too. They talked him down like he was completely irrelevant. What's frustrating is that these pundits continue to use that alone as fuel against Paul but once these delegates are allocated down the road I do wonder if there may be some shenanigans happening.

1. Don't listen to FOX.
2. We won't know the delegate count until the state/national conventions.

Santorum and Gingrich are missing out on something close to 500 National Delegates because they didn't make it onto the state ballots.

Also this. The media is blowing smoke up everyone's arse, and they know it.

Whatever the count is, it would be 1 more if you run as a delegate! What are YOU waiting for?

Well. I disagree with your first point. it is everyones best interest to always scrutinize what the major msm networks are selling. Beyond election cycles even.

And yes, I know that we won't know the delegate count right away. Was just trying to take a short cut, I guess. I'll figure out what I was looking for. Thanks.

Paul is in third in the delegate count right now. Romney is in first, Gingrich is in second, we are in third, and Santorum is in last. So Fox is full of it.

Wish I could. I'll be in Virginia unfortunately.

Virginia has delegates, too....

Get involved with the unit mass meetings, your deadline to register may be very close. Arlington, VA deadline is Wednesday. Lynchburg meeting is Wednesday, etc.
rpv.org - click on calls in top right corner -- but better yet, go to your county GOP website and look for convention, mass meeting, etc. calls.

The real details aren't something we would want to make public since they will obviously try to thwart us every step of the way. However the only states that have voted so far where the delegates are tied to the popular vote are New Hampshire, Florida, South Carolina and Nevada. Iowa, Minnesota, Colorado, Missouri and Maine award delegates through an ongoing process that is not complete, and our standing is better there than in the popular vote in each instance. All Fox is doing is pretending the state delegates would be awarded by percentage of popular vote, which is nonsense. The party sets up this system to put their finger on the scale so they can really control the process regardless of popular vote. However, we have learned the rules and are following the process, and they don't like it.

This is only true to the extent of binding delegates for the first ballot. Delegates will set local party rules, chairs, etc. -- Delegates to the RNC will choose the next RNC Chair, committees, etc. -- and if we have a brokered convention - we want to win that!

FL and SC both have convention processes to choose delegates, just like the other states you mentioned.

Florida's process can be taken over (as any state's can), but we needed to dominate the Executive Committee's 4 years ago to get in position. In several big counties (like Hillsborough (Tampa)), we failed to do that. We are now trying (to setup a better situation for 2016). Whether we can get people to come to these meetings (that aren't as much fun as sign waves), is an open question. I'm/We're trying!

Exactly the point I'm trying to get across. FL is one of the tougher states, most we have the opportunity to change this year, if the people who gave money just came to 2 or 3 meetings with their fellow RP buddies.

You mean you will be traveling to Virginia when your state caucuses? Or that you are in Virginia and so don't think you can be a delegate?

If you are just traveling, many states will allow someone at a precinct caucus to nominate someone who isn't there as a delegate. If you have a friend attending, have them nominate you with the understanding that you had to be out of town but you really want to run as a delegate.

If you are in Virginia, continue to pursue being a delegate. Even if we lose the primary, we can still attempt to unbind the delegates.

Becoming a delegate is what this is all about. Don't believe it when Fox, CNN, etc. tells you that he has no chance or has no delegates. Just do what you can at your precinct/county or whatever, and prove them wrong.

Good luck!

Meaning as quick as I'm in one state, I'm usually in another shortly thereafter beginning this time of year without a whole lot of time to spare.

Think Spring training. ;)

Have already discussed the matter with folks looking to become delegates in Del and Va though since residence technically includes both. Will do what I can do considering my schedule.

Again, it's not so much whether or not I believe msm, the fact remains that we must pay very close attention to them. After all, others actually do listen to them.

Thanks.

I agree though that we should probably try to keep a lid on some of the delegate discussion. Still don't know why Doug spilled the beans but I suspect it equally serves as protection down the road.

It somewhat serves as protection, it also gives Ron credibility, which he has earned. But we don't want to give details, all the same, in terms of how many, where and or who.
