Swordsmyth keeps repeating the false claim that Trump had to appoint swamp critters like William Barr, who had ties to Jeffrey Epstein, to be Attorney General, Mike Pompeo to be Secretary Of State, and John Bolton to be National Security Advisor as a "compromise" with Mitch McConnell to avoid impeachment. Here's the problem. William Barr was nominated to be attorney general BEFORE Trump made the phone call that led to his first impeachment!
Timeline:
December 7, 2018, William Barr nominated by Donald Trump to be attorney general.
April 2018, John Bolton nominated to be National Security Advisor.
April 2018, Mike Pompeo nominated to be Secretary Of State.
July 2019, Donald Trump made the phone call to Zelinski that led to his first impeachment.
So Trump hadn't even done the act that was the basis for the first impeachment until after all of these swamp critters has been nominated.
Did anything significant happen right before that? Well in January 2018, the Stormy Daniels story broke. Now think about it. William Barr was connected to Jeffery Epstein and Epstein was known for sexual blackmail and Epstein and Trump were friends and in 2002 Trump called Epstein a "terrific guy" who likes "beautiful women" but "on the younger side." Trump's defenders will say "But Trump kicked Epstein out of Mar-a-lago!" Yes. That's true. Only after Epstein hit on the daughter of one of Trump's friends! And it happened in 2007, 5 years after Trump called Epstein a "terrific guy" who likes "younger" women.
Trump is no better or worse than Democrat hero Bill Clinton. In fact they were once Democrats together. What else did they do together? Where's Hillary in this picture?

Epstein's "suicide" was a cover up. An Epstein associate working for Trump covered it up. To my knowledge Trump never pushed back against the idea that Epstein's death was a suicide. Did William Barr have something on Trump? That's at least possible if not plausible. But impeachment was not at all hanging over Trump's head.
