From his FB:

Based on what I've heard from multiple trusted sources, I now expect Mike Huckabee to run for president in 2016.

That would be good. He'd divide the evangelical vote with Cruz, leaving Paul as the clear leader of the pack.

Does this mean he's going to go on another major diet?

lol. No, that would be Christie, but even then, he'll still probably only be walking for President;)

(Sorry, couldn't resist. I'm overweight too, guys.)

No, he would monopolize the evangelicals in Iowa and win. Nobody splits evangelicals with Huckabee except *maybe* Santorum.

I find it amazing that evangelicals would vote for a Papist like Santorum over a Christian like Ron or Rand Paul. Now, personally, I don't care too much what a candidate's religion is (Although, given a choice between two similar liberty candidates I'd take the Biblical Christian over the "something-else" every time) but most evangelicals act like religion is the only thing that matters in a race. With candidates like Huckabee and Santroum, I think what they really want is fascism. Which ticks me off.

Actually I think Rand would have the Evangelicals tied up tight. He is the only one who has spoken out loudly about the Christian slaughter in Syria and the ME.

Most U.S. 'Christians' don't care about Middle East Christians being persecuted. Mainline Evangelicals want: Israel worship, war with Iran, support the troops, and kill the gays -- in that order.

Religion and critical thinking have an inverse relationship. Evangelicals are astonishingly easy to dupe.

Rand doesn't have evangelicals tied up, not even close. Rand, uniquely, does have the opportunity to unite social conservatives, libertarians, and tea party folks under the Liberty Movement mantra. It's not a slam dunk though, and like I stated above; evangelicals are the biggest suckers on the planet.

great. (sarc). now ill have to hear my family talk about how hes the only one who trusts in god. blah blah.... anything rand says will not matter to them.

Evangelicals like Freedom Fanatic and I don't want any of that, and people like us are growing in number. And no, Evangelicals do care about persecution worldwide, every Sunday at my church someone prays for the persecuted church. And I don't know anyone who actually wants to kill gays, in fact there isn't a single Christian majority nation that proscribes the death penalty for sodomy.

Huckabee's big gov't sins are numerous and well documented. In a GOP that is now largely about limiting government Huckabee will have a hell of a hard time winning states outside the bible belt.

Why do you think that?

If he runs, then I'd call him the favorite to get the GOP nomination, no matter who else runs.
