We Are Ron Paul Republicans

Don Rasmussen, special assistant to Ron Paul 2008, has written this excellent summary of what it means to be a Ron Paul Republican:

As this presidential cycle begins to wind towards its conclusion, many have asked if Ron Paul is still in the race. The answer is an emphatic yes, but to ask this question really misses the bigger picture. Dr. Paul has made it clear that he will continue to compete for every delegate in order to wield maximum influence at the convention and to make positive changes in the platform.

The influence that we can have is hardly limited to winning the nomination and there is still much work to do. By putting the maximum number of delegates on the convention floor, we can get our people in the rules committee and the platform committee as well as having a voice in the decision-making that can only be done by delegates. The power of having as many Ron Paul Republicans on the floor as possible — in order to talk to other delegates, make our case, debate, and convince them that our message is a true conservative message — cannot be overstated. Delegates represent the most influential and active members of the party.

Dr. Paul has said from day one that this campaign was not about him, but rather about ideas. He has carried the message with great dignity and clarity. We have listened, acted, and shared those ideas with millions of our fellow Americans. He has infused the national debate with monetary policy, Constitutionalism, non-interventionism, and hope. But changing the national dialogue is only one measure of the success of this movement.

In Alaska, Ron Paul supporters have put forward new planks to the state party platform that will alter the philosophical and policy direction of the party and its candidates. In many states, hundreds of newly-minted Ron Paul Republicans have taken up positions within their local party apparatus, in roles ranging from precinct officers to county and state party leaders. Some have joined Young Republicans and Republican women’s groups; others have made the commitment to run for office at all levels. Have no doubt, the R3volution is in full swing!

Already, commentators have begun to pick up on the actual scope and power of what we are accomplishing. Newsmax has Dr. Paul on the cover with an article that says, in part, that like Goldwater he may change the GOP forever. This is also the prediction of former Bush I advisor Doug Wead, who wrote, “…the words and arguments of Ron Paul are still resonating. They still hang over this election. They are haunting and troubling. They are producing blogs and papers and books and like Goldwater’s revolution they will one day very likely produce their own Ronald Reagan.”

The bottom line is this: This is not Ron Paul’s revolution, it is ours. Dr. Paul has shown us the path, but it is up to us to take it. We must continue to fight to make our voice heard within the GOP by remaining engaged, promoting our ideas and the candidates that embody those ideas. We must keep the issues in the public debate. We must fund, promote, and work tirelessly for the organizations and individuals who have and will emerge as the leadership of our movement in the months and years ahead.

This is not the end, it is only the beginning. GOP dinosaurs roared their frustration that a bunch of previously disengaged citizens would show up at their meetings and caucuses to make their voices heard and demand change in the direction of the party. The old guard believe that they have weathered the storm, beaten back our efforts, and can now return to the business of promoting welfare, warfare, and graft without the light of day being shown on their hypocritical and failing worldview. They are wrong.

We are Ron Paul Republicans. We are Constitutionalists. We are the future and we will not be silenced.

I am so a Ron Paul Republican! I wear by button everywhere, a guy the other day said, I love that guy!

I'm a Ron Paul Republican. I try very hard to get out of my shell and talk to other people about political issues. (A lot more people now know my standpoint on at least some political issues. I didn't force myself onto anyone, and the people that do talk politics all seem to have a deep respect for Ron Paul.) I think it's one of the most important things to do in life, and find it somewhat sad that so few seem to be willing to put their money where their mouth is by donating to the candidates they think represent them. That's why I'm so glad that we were able to donate as much as we did to the cause of liberty that Ron Paul fights for.

Perhaps I am wrong....

Perhaps I am wrong, but I think I have8 figured out the meaning of this article, at least in my assumption. Ron Paul did not run to become President, he knew he didn't have chance. I've noticed that we sometimes tend to have a harder time seeing ahead than he does. Perhaps it is the age difference, but we started become a hair disenchanted by waiting a few days for a reply. I believe Ron Paul ran for President in order to almost purely get his message out, and this revolution started. Could it be we overlooked a situation he found himself in. If you knew that a lot of bad things are to come, but your neighbors does not. Would you not go out of your way to inform them, or attempt to stop it?

Yet again, I saw the results of Potomac Primaries today, and I felt my heart sank a little bit, as always does with his below perfect finishes. Despite the fact that I know that it's that keeping everyone below a 51% first vote is what matters, then delegates. But, I admit, like I'm sure many of you, I always yearn a small bit to just once see Ron Paul run away with a state, just for him. But this article, it made me realize it's not about Ron Paul. Again, I admit, I "knew" this, the "It's the message that will get through, but it would be go great if he would."

As I watch Jim Cramer complain about Bernanke, I truly realize this isn't about him one bit. Ron Paul is merely what the Boston Tea Party was to the original Revolutionaries. Ron Paul has marked the beginning of our revolution. In two year we have raised over $30,000,000 for a single cause. We have launched a blimp, we have launched many campaigns acrossed this land. From people stepping up and challenging those old dinosaurs in their Congress seats, to their Senate seats, and more. But the most influential, and rewarding campaigns were those from either standing side by side with our neighbors, soon becoming friends. To sitting at our computers donating for those two magnificant moneybombs, bonding even more with our friends accrossed the country. We cannot forget all those individuals who chose to give their lives up, move acrossed the country solely to further this message; and those who donated their money to support those individuals.

We must remember that this isn't about Ron Paul, it is about us. As much as we must fight for his victory, we must more importantly fight for our liberties. We must not give up, become disenchanted, or perceive we have lost if he does not win. Not even the old dinosaurs got to power in 2 years. We have accomplished much in that time, but there is much more to be done. Just as the world knows the name of George Washington, and his revolutionaries, they will of Ron Paul and his. March on my friends, we will become victorious, just as before. I will see you all at the end of this tunnel.

Short and simply: let's take over the GOP, take over the LP and CP, and build a new offline media organ (breakthematrix.com) to break free of the control of the bought and paid for corporate/CFR media. Build a fund to challenge future rigged polling, and rigged electronic voting. If anyone avenue fails, we keep working on the others. We have the numbers, the will to fund, the can-do spirit and ingenuity. The revolution IS the tunnel out of this current mess.

I wish he would have saved about $20 million and invested it to use in a 'freedom PAC' to promote other like minded candidates.

I see that life raft you're on, adrift in the sea of despair. Slip off, let go, and slide slowly into the deep, cool water... then we won't have to listen to your negative bull any more. You damage the movement MORE than the Neocons you profess to hate, because you come here and spew your negativity directly on the Remnant.

Be gone, please.

I hate the republican party and GOP Loyalists.

You hate Ron Paul? :(

Since you are moderator and perhaps are trying to ensnare me to have me removed from the forum as a disruptive influence, let me put it this way...I hate that Ron Paul chose party loyalty as his course in this election. But then he never intended to win this election anyway, did he?

I falsely believed that we were trying to elect a president but learned lately that we were starting a movement to reform the GOP.

Now we've gone from Ron Paul for President to Ron Paul Republicans to change the party and eventually, if we believe with all our hearts, we'll change our country, unless of course we don't and then we'll have another mission.

"Save the GOP, Save the GOP" the new battle cry.

We're no longer fighting the same fight.

The sea of despair, created by the likes of you.

Now you think you are "the remnant"? How cultish is that? Bow down to that GOP god you revere.

And anyone that disagrees with you GOP loyalists is to be reviled and cast off and forgotten....oh the despair...to be reviled by the remnant...to be deserted by my former confederates.....oh the despair.

Sorry to hurt your gentle constitution, but we're no longer fighting the same fight. I am a thorn in your side, but good luck with your GOP thingy.

Ironic you should mention OUR Constitution.

If we're not fighting the same fight, simply go away quietly and fight your fight elsewhere so those who choose to fight this fight can continue in a positive forum.

Or, go pluck yourself, thorn. :D Lol.

I am pleased to see my pun didn't go unnoticed, but to then be punned myself was more than I expected.

Funny you don't realize that everything is balance. You can't have a positive without a negative. I've been told to leave since the day I arrived and will no doubt leave someday. But not today.

Unless I am forcibly removed. A thorn likes to fester.

I don't think that many in this movement are prepared to cast off others due to minor disagreement. On the other hand, any movement should be prepared to cast off a defeatist within it's ranks.
Apparently, you find it more useful to troll against a movement with which you have become disenchanted than to do something constructive about it. The best you can do is gain some sense of satisfaction by your self-appointed, self-aggrandized role as a 'thorn in the side' of the movement. It's really quite silly.
