Gregory Meeks says we need to rescue the drunk driver (Wal street) so there won't be a traffic jam and the drivers (citizens) can continue down the road. What a moron.
They're all trying to distance themselves from this thing. Waxman just called this a Republican bill but said he's voting for it. Many Republicans are speaking out against it. We'll see who actually has the courage to vote against it.
The democrats don't need the repubs to pass this thing - they have the numbers - but they're scared. They just want the repubs on the hook like them.
Kieth Ellison on talking about a friend of his that couldn't get a loan to float the payroll at his business. I guess we need to make loans to people with bad business practices now.
Spencer Bachus: "No one in Congress has the insight to know what will happen if they don't pass the bill. It could mean wiped out pensions, loss of jobs, etc. I won't take that risk." Biggest applause yet.
I can't stand the techniques that are used by people for the bill. The- " act now to save america or do nothing" argument. Most people against the bill actually have better intentions than doing "nothing". They know that it's not wise to bailout unless the root cause for the problem is solved. They know that the majority of americans smell bullshit and are not willing to just dish out more money. These congressmen against the bill in my view are the brave ones who are standing their ground and are wanting to find the right answer. Not just rush to pass the bill. So it bothers me everytime when the ones voting for the bill act like this is the only way....and that people wanting to try something else somehow translates to doing nothing.
