Cruz campaign in South Carolina

Backbiting all eventually leads to face-biting. One thing I will hand to Trump is that he's never bitten anyone in the back, he's always been right in their face about it. Cruz...not so much.

Cruz is this back-stabbing piece of shit, he back stabbed Rand, he back stabbed Carson, hell he even back stabbed Trump. He is not what America needs.

This is still pre-SC-debate, but after the NH results:

Kasich will start picking up support from those who are tired of the shit slinging.

Unlikely, Kasich is going to show poorly in SC and will have to drop, as will Carson. The top 3 in SC will go on. Which means Carson, Kasich and one of the GOPe 3 will drop, likely Robotio.

I'd imagine there will be a lot of pressure on one of Rubio/Bush to drop out after SC to try and stop Cruz/Trump.

The entire fate of the GOPe is in Cruz's hands. He is only one who can possibly stop Trump in SC and even that is slim.

The GOP establishment has already said that they would rather have Trump than Cruz. They think that Trump would be more willing to negotiate and work with them than Cruz.

Stone recalled his days with Reagan, and pointed out that the South Carolina primary was scheduled to “set the table” for the Southern primary on March 1. Stone says businessman Donald Trump is well on his way to sweeping the South.

As for he drama involved in the recent debate, asked if he thought Trump had gone too far, said Stone, “As your previous caller said, the Bushes have worn out their welcome. So, anytime you clash with Jeb, he is the symbol of the established order. The established order is about no change. It’s about a complete continuation of our current policies. Jeb really stands for that – endless war, erosion of civil liberties, more debt, more spying on our citizens, nothing would be different.”

Stone said he felt that “both on substance and on style,” Trump survived the South Carolina debate, “which is all he really had to do” as the frontrunner.

When asked if it was all about going about the Bush legacy, Stone said Trump wasn’t a diabolical man and if it seemed that way, it was simply a result of the political battle. Stone also reiterated criticism of the Iraq War. “It was a massive error, an expensive error in terms of lives and money.” Stone went on to say that both the Clinton and Bush administrations had numerous warnings about 9/11 “and they just failed to connect the dots.”

Stone insisted he believes Trump will continue to attack on the Iraq War and that there is more than enough dissatisfaction out there with how the war was handled, including her aftermath and ongoing problems in taking care of American veterans, that the attacks will not hurt Trump in South Carolina, as some pundits suggest.

Is it guaranteed any of the top 6 will drop out after south carolina? I definitely think bush and rubio could stay in until super tuesday. And If Carson Or Kasich have a surprise performance in SC, which is not implausible, one of them could stay in as well.

5/6 remaining have the financial means to run all the way to the RNC. Kasich could make it 6/6 if he beats Bush and Rubio again. What will happen if Bush drops out- the anti-Bush support currently behind trump will take another look at the remaining candidates, and the race will be 5 candidates, each around 20%.

From the orangeman DJT:

We are getting reports from many voters that the Cruz people are back to doing very sleazy and dishonest "pushpolls" on me. We are watching!

Cruz will do no better than 3rd in SC.

ANDERSON – Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz said in Anderson Tuesday night that his campaign had nothing to do with false reports on Facebook that U.S. Rep. Trey Gowdy of Spartanburg had switched his support to Cruz from Marco Rubio, one of Cruz’s rivals for the GOP nomination.

“We had nothing to do with that, and I think it is unfortunate that the Rubio campaign would make allegations with no evidence,” Cruz told The Greenville News during an interview on his campaign bus just before he took the stage at the Anderson Civic Center.

“We had nothing to do with that,” Cruz said. “And we would not have anything to do with such a thing.”

Gowdy, however, blamed the Cruz campaign for circulating the false claim on social media.

“The truth actually matters to me and to all South Carolinians,” Gowdy said in a statement earlier Tuesday. “Unfortunately it appears that the campaign of Senator Ted Cruz may not place the same value on waging a contest based on the truth and facts.”

Gowdy said Cruz and his allies had launched a “systematic effort” in the past week to “spread false information and outright lies.”

“Now it’s been reported that a fake Facebook page has been used to fool South Carolinians into thinking I no longer support Marco Rubio and that I’m instead supporting Ted Cruz,” Gowdy said. “Nothing could be further from the truth and I’m demanding that Senator Cruz and his campaign repudiate these dishonest and underhanded tactics.”

It was the latest accusation of political dirty tricks against the Cruz campaign and came on a day when a new poll of South Carolina Republicans showed Cruz tied for second place with Rubio four days before the state's first-in-the-South presidential primary.

Ted Cruz wants robust defense budget – after voting against it 3 times

Presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, represents a defense-intensive state, with 15 military bases and many defense contractors, especially in Fort Worth and North Texas.

So when Cruz gave an impassioned speech Tuesday in South Carolina, another military state holding a GOP primary Saturday, with a plan to build up the military, it was an expected show of good politics.

Yet during his three years in the Senate, Cruz has voted against the annual defense authorization bill every time. It is always for the same reason: The bill did not prohibit the “indefinite detention” of U.S. citizens arrested in the United States without trial or due process.

“The Constitution does not allow President Obama, or any president, to apprehend an American citizen, arrested on U.S. soil, and detain these citizens indefinitely without a trial,” Cruz said in 2013, his first year in the Senate. “When I ran for office, I promised the people of Texas I would oppose any National Defense Authorization Act that did not explicitly prohibit the indefinite detention of U.S. citizens.”

Cruz, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, has repeated that reason when he voted against the defense bill in 2014 and 2015.
