If you can make sure every Christian, Muslim, and Jew in the world follows only the good parts of their respective religions then I'll say religion is good but that isn't going to happen so we will continue to have Jews, Christians, and Muslims killing each other because they can't get over their differences.

It's fine to believe in God but the rest of it isn't needed. Society already has a moral code so we don't need the Bible for that.

People know it's bad to steal, murder, cheat, lie, etc. nobody needs the Bible or a priest to tell you that. I'm not religious and I don't behave in an immoral way. My parents never went to church and I didn't turn out horrible. In fact I turned out better than most of the kids I knew who went to church because they grew up so repressed they acted out as soon as they were out of their parents sight.

Whether religion is based on facts or fantasies, people have certain deistic tendencies that are the result of our development as a species. If they don't worship God, they will worship the State as their God. Might as well have have something that occasionally does good things (religion) than an entity that only knows how to destroy (government).

I disagree , what you really have to decide is , if the negatives outweigh the positives . Looking at history only and being an unbeliever , I would expect , one may decide that the negatives do outweigh the positives , I clearly understand that. Wrong, being in that part of the world has nothing to do with Christianity. Its all a setup for the Armaggedon directive, this is where they pretend to play out the Armaggedon scenario, then say its over, no more reason for war, 7yrs of peace. More control mechanisms put in place.
