A man dressed in a military-style “Ghillie suit” who was attempting to provoke a Bigfoot sighting was struck by two vehicles and killed on U.S. 93 South of Kalispell Sunday night.

“He was trying to make people think he was Sasquatch so people would call in a Sasquatch sighting,” Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Jim Schneider said. “You can’t make it up. I haven’t seen or heard of anything like this before. Obviously, his suit made it difficult for people to see him.”

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office identified the man as Randy Lee Tenley, 44, of Kalispell.
Schneider said Tenley’s motivations were ascertained during interviews with friends who were not in the immediate area but were nearby when the man was struck at about 10:30 p.m.

“Alcohol may have been a factor,” Schneider said. “Impairment is up in the air.”
Tenley was on the southbound side of the highway, about a half mile south of the highway’s intersection with Rocky Point Road.

“He was in the right-hand lane of travel and the vehicle was unable to avoid him and struck him,” Schneider said of the first vehicle driven by a 15-year-old girl from Somers.

A second vehicle driven by a 17-year-old Somers girl also struck Tenley as he laid on the highway.
Ghillie suits are commonly used by military snipers and some that are advertised on the Internet have a Bigfoot-like appearance.

“This one was a store-bought version, just a commercial Ghillie suit that was pre-made,” Schneider said.
Tenley was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Alcohol may have been a factor,” Schneider said. “Impairment is up in the air.”

"Hey, guys, watch this. A hyukk, hyukk!"

End of the Bigfoot legend? No.

End of some poor schmuck who came up with a really, REALLY bad idea? Yep.

The really sad point to this story is the 15 year old girl who accidentally hit the guy. That's going to be a really traumatic thing for her to live with, despite the fact that it was clearly not her fault.

So... He was walking in the right lane and was struck by a 15 year old female driver.

Will they charge her with vehicular manslaughter?
He was a pedestrian, walking in the right lane, he has the right of way.
Even if he is drunk and dressed like bigfoot, he still has the right of way...
She is at fault insurance wise, so why not criminally?

It is totally her fault. You are always 100% at fault when hit a pedestrian.
She should learn where the break pedal is...

Seriously..
If she can't avoid a drunk big foot lumbering on the road side.. what chance does she have of avoiding a small child chasing its ball.

She needs driver retraining at the very least...

Not getting laid makes people very very bored...

Not a chance.

I doubt if she'll be on the hook even for an insurance claim. Tenley was clearly trying to *avoid* being seen, which would likely render his "rights" as a pedestrian null and void.

If anything, the kid driving the car might have a good chance to sue the guy's estate in civil court for damages both emotional and physical.

Not a chance.. She is 100% at fault. He is a pedestrian, it don't matter what he is wearing or doing..

I had this guy try and open my car door (read attempted car jacking) in a parking lot, I put it in gear and drove out the the parking lot, this guy ran to the road and then stood in my lane to not let me go, so I floor it and switched lanes, at which time he jumped into the other lane in front my car, missed my hood he was aiming for, hit the ground and I ran over his left leg.

I pulled over, as he was no longer a threat as he was laying in the road grabbing his leg..
Cops were sitting 1 block down at the light, saw it all happen.
They toss him in the back the cop car, and they write me a ticket for improper lane change..
I was found at fault! The guy sued my insurance company. So... yeah..

Your messed up story isn't a precedent. How is it that your lawyer didn't get an acquittal? Could it be that you were in traffic court for a minor citation and not the criminal court you recommed for this 15-year old girl ("She is at fault insurance wise, so why not criminally?"). Also, you are not an insurance adjuster and have no clue as to whether she is at fault. Montana is not a "no fault" state so that is one less reason to think her insurance will be involved (see here for pedestrians and no-fault insurance).

Life handed you some lemons. That's no reason to knock down a child and squeeze lemon juice into her eyes.

And another thing: I suspect the cops in your story elected to whitewash what looked like 'attempted manslaughter' as 'improper lane change'. I don't know that they did you a favor, but it is possible.

It was 10:30 pm. The Ghillie suit is dark, hard to see at night. I do not think it was her fault.

It seems she wasn't the first vehicle to hit him. I think what you're saying might apply to the first driver. She may not have seen anything until after running over his already ran over body.

So you're going to aim your anger at the 15 year old girl?

You were cited for an improper lane change, not hitting the dude. Pedestrians have ROW in the crosswalk, not walking in the middle of the road.

"Could this be the end of the Big Foot legend?"

You can't kill bigfoot, he's a legend. Only drunk pepole dressed like him.
