Could Ron Paul Supporters Overwhelm the (TX) GOP Senate District Conventions?

How bout this genius comment
Yeah, they have numbers. That’s why Paul keeps doing worse and worse in every primary he runs in.
gave em a little what for

Our "active" numbers around DFW are what scare them. They have seen what we have brought to the Nomination Committee meetings. They get the "non-active" voters who will go to the polls, but won't show up to become delegates.

I think what they ought to be more afraid of is what I witnessed at my county convention a couple days ago (the 14th).

A little background...

I've lived in this county for 14 years and in Texas awhile longer. I went to my first Texas GOP state convention in 1996 and I've been to most of them since.

The situation in Texas being what it is, the turnout on Saturday was mostly veteran GOP folks. And while no one was actively promoting a presidential candidate, the resolutions voting was remarkable. Like I said, this was mostly old-guard Bush republicans; frankly, people who I'd otherwise expect to be Romney supporters. But, contrary to my suppositions (because 4 years ago none of this would have happened), there was overwhelming support (as in 90% or better) for nearly all of the pro-liberty resolutions. We passed 20 resolutions including eliminate the Fed, abolish EPA, abolish DoEd, get out of the UN, etc. and many of the "mainline" people went to the mic in support of these measures.

I personally would put the odds at around 50/50 at this point for Ron Paul to decisively win Texas in May.

So get our people to the conventions, get anyone not registered to vote registered asap, get out the vote in May, and bring a large Texas delegation full of Ron Paul fans to Tampa = WE WIN!

I went to the Senate District delegate training on Saturday in Tarrant County. I was quite pleased with the standing room only crowd in our 3pm group!!

Tyler, what do you think about Matt Krause, he's running for congress in Tarrant County, district 93.

Hmm...sounds like the old Texas GOP was introduced again. That was the most libertarian platform we ever had. In fact some horrified person (maybe a liberal?) made a video to show what was there.

Tarrant County is going to represent this weekend ;0)

My wife and I are "promised" a spot already to the state convention b/c we are on the Event Production Committee, We will see if that promise holds.

We had people making phone calls all weekend and today to get people in class, trained and ready for this week.

They better be ready for the revolution ;0)

There were definitely some of the 2006 type provisions, but it was more than that. If you'd told me a week ago that my county GOP convention would be overwhelmingly and enthusiastically supportive of ending the Federal Reserve, I'd have asked you what you were smoking. Many of these same folks are still pro choice (if you ask them privately and nicely), mainstream Bush Sr. supporting republicans. They used to laugh at Ron Paul and now they are coming around. It's a beautiful thing.
