Cops Tase Barely Conscious Boy With Broken Back 19 Times For Non-Compliance

Obviously you are a professional on this subject.

If that happened, then it could be construed as torture, but it didn't happen. As I said, if the article is lying about this, what else is it lying about? Tasers only have enough juice in them to be used once. There are some expensive models that not many departments use that have quick-reload batteries, but I highly doubt the officers were carrying 19 batteries on them.

The article is simply the most B.S. thing I have ever read. You're telling me the officers sat there, firing a tazer once, reloading, firing it again, reloading, firing it again, reloading, over and over for a grand total of 19 times? That's even if they had reloadable tasers and all those batteries on them.

Article = lame and BS.

They are. Would you prefer this boy have gotten shot instead? If a "boy" (I use that term lightly because 16 is old enough to overpower you) is squirming around, not complying with my requests, and saying he's going to kill me, I have to assume he has a gun or weapon on him and is about to use it on me.

Sorry, he can ride the lightning, I'm not risking my life and yes I am going home to my family at the end of the day.

As far as what he's a suspect of, that doesn't matter, as soon as he said he was going to kill the officers, he committed a crime.

1) How would I know he has a broken back? I'm not a doctor and I don't carry x-ray machines with me.

2) If he has a broken back, he should have said so and been crying for help, not saying that he was going to kill me.

3) The kid was a f'ing retard and deserved it. It's just common sense not to tell cops you are going to kill them if you have a broken back and need medical attention.

And why is that? Have you ever used a taser, or had one used on you?

Just because the media makes tasers out to be some horrible death beam invented by Dr. Evil doesn't mean it's true.
So let me get this straight just so I can understand this better. If I call the police dept and tell them I just beat down a guy and have him subdued because he threatened to kill me who is going to jail? Me because just because he threatened me he didn't actually do it or attempt to do it I have no right to defend myself because he is only threatening and not posing a serious risk against my life to support self defense. If I had called the police and told them someone just threatened my life they would basically tell me that if the accused hasn't done anything but threatened me it is not a crime.

But with a cop it is differen't? All the person has to do is just threaten you and you can go to town on them?

Just like in the other post you seem to defend bad cops, it is sad but from your statements it is true. Hell you wouldn't even reply to my post on the other thread of the cyclist in NYC that got the ole boy in blue beat down because unfortunately you couldn't even come up with a proper defense for your opinion on that matter either.

I sure am gald you have made yourself known as to ya true blue color on here. I pray for the citizens safety in your area of policing because they are in for a real treat with you and the good ole boys club there.

How in the world could someone of this mentality support Ron Paul? It is completely bizzaro to the views of Ron and the Constitution.

Tasers are the best thing since sliced bread
Can the Taser cause someone to die? Yeah
I do support the drug war
First, if I were like a lot of people I would say GTFO. But, what I would rather do is ask, why do you support the this drug war? Like it was pointed out earlier, you can't even keep drugs out of a PRISON how the F*** are you going to keep them off of the streets?! I would also like to ask, if drugs were legalized, would you smoke crack? I didn't think so. Come up with that reason yet?

I already touched on this subject earlier, not sure if it was this thread or not, but I really don't want to get into it again.

You would both be detained and we would have to reach a conclusion based on the circumstances of the present situation, after questioning you both on the scene.

Have you actually ever tried that, or are you just assuming that is true because you saw it on NYPD Blue?

Personally, when I was 17 years old myself, I actually received a phone call from someone saying they wanted to kill me. It was probably just a prank call, but my mom was worried and called the state police. They sent out not one, but two cruisers, and searched the whole area with their spotlights to make sure there wasn't anyone outside my house looking in my windows with a knife or something else crazy like that.

While they didn't catch the guy that made the phone call, I would hardly call that inaction.

It was actually that specific situation that made me want to become an officer. I thought it would be cool at the time to drive around in a car with a spotlight on it, lol. :o

Duh? Did you ever learn about police in highschool or did you miss that day?

Just like in the other post you seem to defend bad cops, it is sad but from your statements it is true.
That's only in your opinion that they are bad cops. Considering you aren't a cop, do not train cops, or are not even in the law enforcement industry, I don't see what gives you the authority to determine if a cop is a bad cop or a good cop.

That's like having someone who is a plumber telling you that you need to upgrade the ram in your computer.

How in the world could someone of this mentality support Ron Paul? It is completely bizzaro to the views of Ron and the Constitution.

Ron Paul has stated numerous times that having a strong police force is vital to protecting a free society.

I'm sorry that you and many others are anarchists and are drawn to some of Ron Paul's other stances, but Ron Paul is not an anarchist.

If someone is telling me they are going to kill me, obviously they are not injured that badly and can afford to ride the lightning.

You're a sick fuck. "Ride the lightning".....I bet you and your cop buddies joke about shit like this all the time like it's a game. Coupled with the fact that you support the so-called war on drugs, I can tell you're a real asshole.

"Ride the lightning" is pretty much what a taser ride is known as in the law enforcement community on a global level. I don't see how that makes me a "sick fuck."

Don't get your panties in a wad Sally. I know as an officer I'm held to a higher standard, but that doesn't mean we can't make jokes and puns every once and a while. Or would you prefer me to be a robot with no sense of humor? Wait, that is what you guys complain about, that police are too robotic these days... hmm.

Ride the Lightning is a play on words that allows you and your police officer coworkers tase people once they have gone over a perceived line.

If he does X let him ride the lightning..... I bet you heard that first while in watch meeting before your shift or during training for using tasers.

You were desensitized to use the taser and worry about the person getting tased.

If you know it or not you are being programmed to harm individuals and group them into a group of other bad people.

This one was a 16 year old kid who was going home from work.

And you are taking most of what the cops said as truth. This is classic police officer / judge / journalist think. I bet a large portion of what they said happened is not true. Trust me I have seen police perjure themselves almost every time I have fought a traffic ticket (Not often).

I fight every traffic ticket that was not legal which is sadly many.

The kid may have said he would shoot cops. But it is summer, he had no coat I imagine and obviously no gun. What if he said that after being tased? Is that so unexpected? Is it so unexpected for someone that is hurt to curse? I have been cursed at while helping traffic accident victims.

And I wonder just how exactly he fell off the bridge. Are we sure the cops weren't there at the time? The dash cam has not been released I believe. Maybe they were fighting and he fell off. I know cops feel that is the person fightings fault but he did not invite the cops or want their attitude. The did not defuse the situation at anytime until maybe the kid passed out.

No I heard it on a police forum. Thought it was a funny term to call it.

In fact, it wasn't even being used to describe a taser being used on a civilian. During training, we have to get tasered ourselves, also take a blast of pepper spray straight ot the eyes.

There was a thread on aforementioned police forums, which was a poll. The question was "what would you rather do if you had to do it again, pepper spray or taser?"

One of the officiers replied to the thread "I'll ride the lightning over getting sprayed any day of the week."

That's where I first heard it. Thought it was sly and funny, and now I use it to this day.

Which tickets did you fight that were not "legal"? Just curious.

CopthatsupportsRonPaul,

Back when I was a child, police officers were known as 'peace officers'. Somewhere along the line, they changed it to 'law enforcement officers'. Do you know why that was? I've also noticed a rather startling change of attitude in many. Once, they understood that they worked for the citizenry and didn't approach us as 'the enemy'. What happened? Do you know? Why the change in attitude?

I was brought up to support local police. Mainly, I found out later, because my parents knew that local police were preferable to federalized police. But, ever since you guys started carrying tasers, it's almost like how money burns a whole in someone's pocket --- you guys seem to want to find an opportunity to use them. Any 'ol opportunity. As I recall, when tazers were first introduced, they were supposed to be used as an alternative to shooting someone with a bullet. But now, they appear to be used if someone is just not reacting as quickly as what the police want, to their orders, or if someone questions something the police have said. Police like that are on a power trip and need to find a new line of work. They are smearing the good name of all of the other police officers who do know how to act appropriately. I would think, you, as a police officer, would WANT to weed these bad apples out of the bunch.

Finally, yes, Ron Paul wants a strong police force, that knows and follows the Constitution. Bad apples, running around tasing people, just because they think they can, are bullies, and have no business in the police force and quite possibly, instead deserve to be in jail, themselves.

Tasers are the best thing since sliced bread. Out of all the "taser death" cases, none were ruled that the taser caused the death, only that the taser was a contributing factor. Of all the cases, the "victim" had a pre-existing condition of some sort, whether it's them being loaded up with enough drugs to be fatal, or some kind of weird medical condition that 99.999999% of people don't have.

You know what? Can the Taser cause someone to die? Yeah, but so can drinking coffee, eating yogurt, taking a bath, climbing a ladder, driving a car, etc. Should we ban all those as well?

The people calling for the end of tasers is no different than the crowd of people who want to ban guns.

As part of training, I had to get hit with a taser AND take pepper spray directly to the eyes. I'll take the taser any day. Especially over getting shot with a gun.

You know, I was almost giving you the benefit of the doubt until I read this post, now I know you are pretty much a shill for the police state. Tasers are dehumanizing. There are rubber bullets, hell, even pepper spray is good to get a person to comply if he is dangerous, but "electrocuting" another human being is just absolutely horrid.

This is truly a dark period in our nations history when you have people enthusiastically vouching for the use of a weapon that electrcutes another human. It is just sad and actually really dementedly sick.

So the police are suddenly gods who can see everything and knew that this boy fell off a bridge and has a broken back?

If I came across a guy laying on the ground, saying he wanted to kill police, I wouldn't assume he just fell off a bridge, and neither would you and you know it.

Why can't you people grasp the simple concept that if you have a broken back, you should say so or be crying in pain, not shouting that you want to kill police? Are you guys really that thick or are you just trolling?

How can you support tasing someone 19 times, who is laying on the ground? If the police were so scared of him, why not just cuff him? It's not like he was acting like Rodney King or anything. Seriously, why not just cuff him?

Hey Y'all-

I am thinking (maybe hoping) that "Cop" that supports Ron Paul, is another one of those "Dr" Steve people. I find it particularly amusing when people feel the need to use a title in their names in order to announce to the world they they are a- "Dr", "Cop", "hot chick", "IgottaBig Dick" etc... (posers/wanabes)
I numerous instances, people that carry titles turn out to be quite the opposite of their titles- you know- the "hot chick" is nasty, the "I gottabigdick" is hung like a peanut, etc etc.

Tazed 19 times? First of all, that's flat out impossible. Tasers are only good for 2 shocks at most. Were these officers carrying 9 tasers on their belt or something? ROFL. I work for a PD with a huge budget, and they can't even give us all tasers, so I doubt these two officers in the OZARK PD were carrying 9 tasers with them. If the article can't even get that right, I highly doubt the accuracy of the rest of the story.

Second, how were the officers supposed to know the "boy" had a broken back? If you are trying to take someone into custody, and they are writhing around resisting you, while at the same time saying they are going to kill you, what exactly are you supposed to do, give them milk and cookies?

The boy deserves a darwin award and should be fortunate he was only tazed and not shot.

Please, don't support Ron Paul....

The boy didn't have a weapon, and he was 16 years old for crying out loud...

How do you mistake lying on the ground immobilized with resisting arrest?

The fact that you think simply resisting being put into bondage justifies attacking the boy absolutely sickens me.

I've seen a few of your posts, the only conclusion I can come up with is that your some kind of joke account.

Maybe if you would say "Well not all cops are bad" I would agree with you, but you keep trying to justify Police Brutality?

The boy deserves a darwin award and should be fortunate he was only tazed and not shot.

Ok, yeah it's obvious your just someone pretending to be a cop.

Well my formal title happens to be Dr. Chief Megadick Hunglikahorse De Los Huevos Grandes but don't let it put you off.
