Convention may be cancelled for fictitious hurricane

I'm not seeing what you guys are saying.

Aren't they only planning IN CASE of a hurricane?

Yes. I think some people here are thinking that they are actually projecting a hurricane to occur this week, obviously that's impossible.

Since there are always hurricanes or tropical storms that time of year, they will blow the smallest tropical storm to impending doom so they can cancel this convention and make Romney the defacto nominee.

STOP all the hub-bub --- there ain't gonna' be no stinkin' hurricane! But there is gonna be a Himmicane! ~

Himmicane PAUL:
Catagory: 5 with complete RINO destruction

edit: Twomp -- You beat me to it, arghh.

lol +rep anyways! Great minds think alike imo!

I think these 9000 troops will be for the RP delegates! That's the only "hurricane" they are worried about.

Um, they have hurricane drills relating to any large event during the peak months. This is also taking place in Tampa, which generally is out of the path of most storms that just skirt up the Atlantic coast. This would need to be the sort of storm that goes into the Gulf of Mexico and them boomerangs up into the West coast of Florida. Even then, they mostly hit further north. I'm not sure if any of you actually know what you're talking about when it comes to hurricanes (they last two weeks?) but they are notoriously difficult to fake.

Tampa is in a very fortunate spot. We hardly ever get hit by any hurricanes here. In fact, in my 12+ years living (am a native too) here (St. Pete / Bay area), I've seen...maybe one hurricane come through that actually disrupted daily life and it didn't cause hardly any damage. Tampa is just not that susceptible to hurricanes thanks to our geography.

We can rebuild from the rubble. First we take the nomination then we start to rebuild this country.

Seems unlikely they would cancel. If they cancel and the weather turns out to be lovely, the Republicans are going to look like a bunch of ridiculous cowards that are afraid of their own shadows.

LOL. How do you "track" a "fictitious hurricane"?!

The same way you evacuate from a fake fire during a fire drill.

Disaster drills are made to simulate strikes on a variety of areas and landmarks. Hell, we have them at work quite regularly because we are affiliated with a hospital. Those at the actual hospital have to practice moving certain patients around, locking up supplies, and scrambling responders. The tornado or hurricane damage is communicated by email, including casualties. It's kind of a running joke that our outlying office has been hit three times by fake tornadoes.

Don't be silly, guys.... If the GOP can cancel a caucus because of a "snowstorm," they can certainly cancel a convention because of a "hurricane."

:D
