Congrats, Mr Steele :)

I would say that's just Ron being a politician/"peace maker". I wouldn't tell the truth about MLK if I wanted to be a Republican either. Read the links I gave you. And yes, it is definitely cherry picking of Ron to say that-just as it would be cherry picking to say Marx was a Lockean because he believed in the Labor Theory Of Value.

You don't think that Ron is full of shit when he says he looks to MLK for guidance on civil disobedience and self-government do you? Do you realize the source and context for this statement was him discussing philosophy with someone who was discovering Rothbard and anarcho-capitalism and not a general audience of Fox anchors and "sheeple" right? I'll send you the link in PM.

So, if I read you correctly, you think Dr. Paul is lying somehow about MLK in this statement? I am not sure what you find inherently wrong with cherry picking, but if I cherry pick a sound principle and point out that what someone is saying is true even if it is out of character, and I choose to adopt the success of that, how would you consider that a failure?

Glad to see Michael Steele spoke the truth. Now he'll be gone probably by the end of the week.

Well, RP is correct to cite MLK on those few issues, but those are only a few of the things King talked/wrote about. It sounds nice on the surface to promote King, but really it's as silly as saying Marx=Locke simply because they both essentially agreed on the labour theory of value. (though Marx perverts it, of course)

Cherry picking is only a "success" in terms of PR. If we are talking about consistent advocation of liberty, cherry picking like that is a tremendous failure.

He should go on attack mode about how a certain faction of the GOP, namely the NeoCons, are racist, war mongering evil, ex-Democrats and how we need to purge them from the GOP and get back to our Conservative roots like those preached by MLK. That will shut them up.

and put it down on hemp paper;)

Michael Steel was nominated Chairman of the GOP to attract Black Americans to the party and I saw right through that. That's OK with me but race should not be the issue. Mr. Steel has impressed me though with his departure from Neocon foreign policy and cheer leading for the arms manufactures. When Americans come back home in body bags for the Israeli foreign policy, there is something wrong with that. The GOP and talking heads should realize the GOP is attracting lots of anti-war people and Ron Paul Republicans.

It is time for the NEW GOP to take a stand against the wars.

MLK's "passive" resistance was tolerated simply because the system figured out early on how to co-opt MLK's goals, which were largely the system's as well.

Real resistance to the system will be met with a massive, violent government response.

+10000000  Well said.

Lol. I just tried to add Michael Steele as a friend on Facebook and got an error:

"Sorry, this user already has too many friend requests."

(I can't recall the exact wording, but it was funny.)

Gerald Celente predicts a 3rd party victory in 2012. ;)

What files are closed? The guy advocated government intervention left and right. He wasn't anywhere near a conservative.

I said "Since when was MLK a conservative?" to someone supporting him, so I know. MLK was a quasi communist. The sealed files will prove when they open around 2020, and then we can repeal his holiday.

I thought Locke had a labor theory of property by homesteading not inherent value.

Sort of, but that's my point you see. Marx distorted Locke's meaning for his own nefarious means. (if we can make an epistemelogical connection between the two, which critics tend to do) :p:mad:
