Santorum: Single Moms Are "Breeding More Criminals"

Santorum must have been pandering to heterosexual, monogamous, married, nuclear families.

Santorum and Single Moms: Together Since 1994
"Most people agree a continuation of the current [welfare] system will be the ruination of this country," Santorum told a town meeting in Clairton, Pa., in February 1994, according to transcripts of the appearance obtained by Mother Jones. "We are seeing it. We are seeing the fabric of this country fall apart, and it's falling apart because of single moms."

He went on to say, "What we have is moms raising children in single-parent households simply breeding more criminals." What these criminal-breeding single blights upon society needed, he said, were politicians unafraid of "kicking them in the butt."

Santorum pledges to create a "War on Pornography"

Rick promises to "vigorously enforce" censorship and anti-1A legislation that will placate the concerns of lazy parents who want a Federal Nanny State to perform their parental duties.

Enforcing laws against illegal pornography | RickSantorum.com
Congress has responded. Current federal “obscenity” laws prohibit distribution of hardcore (obscene) pornography on the Internet, on cable/satellite TV, on hotel/motel TV, in retail shops and through the mail or by common carrier. Rick Santorum believes that federal obscenity laws should be vigorously enforced. “If elected President, I will appoint an Attorney General who will do so.”

I proudly support the efforts of the War on Illegal Pornography Coalition that has tirelessly fought to get federal obscenity laws enforced. That coalition is composed of 120 national, state, and local groups, including Morality in Media, Family Research Council, Focus on the Family, American Family Association, Cornerstone Family Council of New Hampshire, Pennsylvania Family Institute, Concerned Women for America, The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, and a host of other groups. Together we will prevail.

Here's the latest "updated" version of Pro-Life Rick...giving money to an alcoholic in a bar, or money to a drug addict on the streets would be absolutely stupid most would agree...but Rick thought it was A-okay to give Planned Parenthood MILLIONS of taxpayers' dollars and to endorse Arlen Specter over the pro-life candidate...give me a break people...give me a break:

Rick Santorum attacks Obama for not censoring the internet

Santorum: "the Obama Department of Justice seems to favor pornographers over children"

Rick Santorum: Pornography Not A Priority For Obama Administration

Santorum said that a strict reading of pornography laws would bar hard-core porn from the Internet.

The administration, he said, has "not put a priority on prosecuting these cases ... putting children at risk as a result of that."

Speech disrupted by men kissing; Santorum fans chant "USA, USA, USA"

Illinois hosts Obama, top GOP rivals
On Friday night, Santorum got a prolonged standing ovation from about 800 people at Christian Liberty Academy in Arlington Heights and loud cheers when he mentioned he and his wife had home-schooled their children.

During his speech, two men stood up, yelled something toward the stage, embraced and kissed, then were led from the gym as the crowd first booed then began chanting "USA."

Santorum paused, then picked up his speech where he left off without addressing the incident.

Santorum on sexual liberty

“We have a right the Constitution of religious liberty but now the courts have created a super-right that’s above a right that’s actually in the Constitution, and that’s of sexual liberty. And I think that’s a wrong, that’s a destructive element.”

-- Rick Santorum, 8/5/2011 (source)

The New Republic

Liberalism causes child molestation:
“Priests, like all of us, are affected by culture. When the culture is sick, every element in it becomes infected. While it is no excuse for this scandal, it is no surprise that Boston, a seat of academic, political, and cultural liberalism in America, lies at the center of the storm.”

Same sex marriage is like bestiality:
“In every society, the definition of marriage has not ever to my knowledge included homosexuality. That's not to pick on homosexuality. It's not, you know, man on child, man on dog, or whatever the case may be. It is one thing. And when you destroy that you have a dramatic impact on the quality...”

Banning gay marriage is like 9/11 crisis:
“This is an issue just like 9/11. We didn't decide we wanted to fight the war on terrorism because we wanted to. It was brought to us. And if not now, when? When the supreme courts in all the other states have succumbed to the Massachusetts version of the law?”

Banning gay marriage us ultimate homeland security:

“I would argue that the future of America hangs in the balance, because the future of the family hangs in the balance. Isn't that the ultimate homeland security, standing up and defending marriage?”

Iraq is like Mordor:
“As the hobbits are going up Mount Doom, the eye of Mordor is being drawn somewhere else. It's being drawn to Iraq. You know what? I want to keep it on Iraq. I don't want the eye to come back to the United States.”

Contraception is a license to have sex:
“Many of the Christian faith have said, well, that’s okay, contraception is okay. It’s not okay. It’s a license to do things in a sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be.”

On Obama’s pro-choice stance:
“I find it almost remarkable for a black man to say ‘now we are going to decide who are people and who are not people.’”

Santorum advocated federally-mandated ethanol vehicles (2008)

"What we need is a government mandate! We need to mandate that all cars sold in the United States, starting with the 2010 model year, be 'flex-fuel vehicles' - that is, they should be able to run on a blend that is 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline (the so-called E85 blend), or even a coal-derived methanol/gas mixture. This mandate would cost a fraction of the new fuel economy standard with the added benefit of saving barrels more oil."

-- Rick Santorum, 1/31/2008, (source)

Santorum's article: "Reducing U.S. oil appetite: This is one cause that could be helped by smart mandates and taxing."

Santorum on drug prohibition

Santorum is a firm believer in prohibition, and endorses the federal government as an agent of social engineering. The senator explained: "I believe that the drugs which are currently illegal should remain illegal. I am committed to maintaining the federal government’s role in the 'war on drugs,' which is fought on many fronts by federal agents, local law enforcement, substance abuse counselors, teachers, parents, and concerned citizens" [Constituent Letter Supplied to NORML, 1998].

Like most drug warriors, his position is hypocritical because he now advocates imprisoning people for doing the same thing that he did when he was young. He publicly admitted to smoking pot in college in an interview with Piers Morgan [Source: CNN, 31 Aug. 2011].

I intend to keep an ongoing thread of major anti-liberty positions of each significant candidate. I worked on a few of these in the last campaign also. Please bump this thread with new information as it comes out.

“I came to the House as a real deficit hawk, but I am no longer a deficit hawk. I’ll tell you why. I had to spend the surpluses. Deficits make it easier to say no.” -- Rick Santorum, 2/5/2003 (source)

"If you're a conservative, there really is only one place to go right now. I would even argue farther than that. If you're a Republican, if you're a Republican in the broadest sense, there is only one place to go right now and that's Mitt Romney." -- Rick Santorum, 2/1/2008 (source)

"I don’t want to go to a trade war. I want to beat China. I want to go to war with China and make America the most attractive place in the world to do business." -- Rick Santorum, 10/11/2011 (source)

“And I stood up from the very beginning back in 2003 when the Supreme Court was going create a constitutional right to sodomy and said this is wrong we can’t do this. And so I stood up when no one else did and got hammered for it. I stood up and I continue to stand up.” -- Rick Santorum, 10/22/2011, (source)

"I have always been a supporter of uniform laws on values that undergird the family. That's why I supported the Federal Marriage Amendment - you cannot have 50 different marriage laws. And you cannot have 50 different abortion laws." -- Rick Santorum, 2011 (source)

"Don’t give me this idea — I hear this: ‘Oh, you’re a moralist. You’re trying to impose your values.’ Everybody’s trying to impose their values. That’s what America’s about." -- Rick Santorum, 12/29/2011 (source)

CONCLUSION: Rick Santorum is a poster-boy for what drove voters away from his party during the Bush years. He supported all the worst expansions of the Federal Government when his so-called "conservative" principles should have led him to opposition. He's voted for the creation of multiple Federal agencies, supported bailouts, helped double the Department of Education, allowed the Federal Government to spy on U.S. citizens without warrants, supported every interventionist war, is an outspoken supporter of foreign aid, supported a terribly irresponsible expansion of Medicare, and has a history of making anti-libertarian comments. He is eager to use the power of govern to enforce his biases against certain cultures and lifestyles -- the mentality of a true authoritarian social engineer.

this is a golden oldie with a most recent edit, yes! this brings back memories of a most ancient tyme when Newt's EGO, Thah Frothy
and Doctor Ron Paul almost put up one final obstacle to Gentleman Mitt's victory parade in the spring/summer of 2o12! We all know
how the RNC went down, and i did respect the hard and tough decision Doctor Rand made when the call happened for GOP party unity.
Some of y'all here sorta cussed out poor RAND on that one, but here we are!!! Has Frothy and his basically seldom wash'd sweater vest
re-visited ALL of Iowa's 99 counties yet i pensively ask??? If he had it to do all over again and he really does, does he do it in the exact
same j@ackA$$'d sorta corrupt manner i remember from the PAC driven, Fox News driven winter of 2011/12? I again have my memories!

I can't stand that lunatic Santorum and have posted here in the past about his positions. But some of this stuff you guys posted makes me surprised I found some things that Santorum said that I agree with.

2011 - Advocates a trade war with China.

His comment in context.

Fellow candidate Mitt Romney promised that if elected, he would immediately label China as a currency manipulator, but added, “I don’t want a trade war with anybody.”

“You know, Mitt, I don’t want to go to a trade war,” Santorum remarked. “I want to beat China. I want to go to war with China and make America the most attractive place in the world to do business.”

I am a Paleocon on trade so I probably disagree with the Libertarians here. Trying to compete with China's child labor and slave system makes it impossible for us to compete with them. I welcome protectionist trade in such cases.

He has a point there with his beliefs on gays which despite his hyperbole turned out to prophetic. Marriage is between and man and woman and should NOT have been legally redefined by government as has happened since he made those comments. If two people want to enter a legal agreement then there is nothing precluding them from doing so.

Government should have been removed from the marriage business. Now they are in it and have redefined it forcing all of us to recognize at part of their Progressive state religion.
