College Kids Boo Santorum

Gets snippy when questioned on gay marriage.

Speaking to students at the College Convention today, Rick Santorum faced questions about gay marriage and found himself in a tense back-and-forth. One student asked the presidential candidate why equality did not include marriage for gay couples, to which Santorum responded ever so vaguely, “Don't you have to make the positive argument why the law should be changed?” Santorum really got terse, however, when asked whether gay people have a right to happiness through marriage. "If you're not happy unless you're married to five other people, is that OK?" he asked to resounding boos. Frustrated by the candidate's insistence on comparing gay marriage with polygamy, many students booed Santorum as he left the room. According to ABC News’s Shushannah Walshe, the Santorum campaign has raised $2 million in the 48 hours since his Iowa almost-win.

What's the big deal with polygamy? You're free to have frivolous sex with as many people as you want, but you're not free to marry them?

Santorum is too polarizing to be elected and his google problem is unpresidential.

If he happens to be campaigning in NH over the next few days, perhaps something could be staged if I show up with both of my girls. It would be pretty funny to be thrown out of his event for kissing two girls. Perhaps he has something coming up that dosen't conflict with Ron's schedule of appearances.

and you are free to marry and divorce and have kids from as many broken homes as you wish. but not allowed to have committed relationships to multiple people at the same time. makes no sense.

I saw John King on CNN today say that Santorum was booed off the stage at that event today, not "booed as he left."

Big difference in the mental image conveyed by the two different ways of describing what went down, isn't there.....

Santorum is too much of a douchebag to be elected. His google problem? I clicked on the first thing that came up. Seems to describe him pretty well.

Who cares about Santorum anyway? He's not going to win the nomination. Our ultimate opponent is, and always was, Willard.

For what it's worth, during the Iowa Caucus, Santorum's color was brown. That had to be intentional.

Marriage has become a way for the state to exert control over your finances. My parents, though divorced, marriage is still owned by the state. Again the real issue becomes clouded with illusory conflict on superficial variations. The real question should be why does the state care who marries who? who smokes what? who buys what? who reads what? who says what? et al. The occupy Wallstreet people had a mistaken cause. They blame wallstreet when wallstreet, as it is, is nothing but an extension, a symptom of a terribly powerful and blunder-prone Federal Reserve (Federal Express Federal Reserve both are private this needs to become common knowledge.). It is a shame the movement is losing steam and we did not get this point across.

Let's talk about Santorum's best ideas; Does he have any?

Rick Santorum succeeded in getting these kids to shy away from applying consistent logic and arriving at the ultimate conclusion: that polygamy IS okay.

It's too bad nobody had the intellectual fortitude to say it.

In the Governments eyes, Marriage is not between the two concenting individuals, it is between the two concenting individuals AND the State, and the Corporations that run the Government. Insurance is one of Corporations that like having their hands in the creation of laws so they can grab more cookies for themselves out of the cookie jar. Insurance simply doesnt want to have to pay out any more than it absolutely has to.
