I haven't watched Comedy Central in months and I turned it on today to see Colbert interviewing a woman about Hillary. He went on a rant about how Hillary will kidnap men and steal their semen blah blah weird stuff and then he added "but I also believe that about Ron Paul"

I took it as a sarcastic remark about how fake conservatives are scared of him.. since Colbert is an actor and mimics neo cons

Bleh; I don't like Colbert at all; he's supposed to be funny but he isn't at all. And if you compare how he acted to Ron Paul during his talkshow compared to Jay Leno, Bill Maher or Jon Stewart, he was the only one who was taking sarcastic jabs at Ron Paul.

I think Colbert is hilarious, I think the colbert interview is one of my favorites, really made Ron paul look good

You do realize that his entire show is meant to be satirical don't you?

it's his on air persona.. he is playing the flag waving neocon supporter, thats the point :D

I wish Ron Paul could do Colbert and/or The Daily Show again. It is great publicity and can bring in some Dems and Independents.

Eh. Colbert is a super liberal and I wouldn't be surprised if he spent his time online at the Daily Kos. Yes, he is play the persona of a neocon but he hates everything RP stands for also.

The thing that made me spit while trying to take a drink was when I heard ( Bill Crystal?) one of the fox neocons said how much he liked Colbert.

I fell in the floor laughing......

What morons....

Stephen Colbert was very supportive of Paul. After each viewpoint of Paul's he mentioned, he made sure to break to give the audience room to cheer.

Alright; since numerous persons were enthusiastic about the Colbert-Interview; I just looked up the Colbert interview, rewatched it (it's a 5 minutes interview) and I will start quoting.

Colbert quotes:
1) "Are you a republican or are you not a republican?"

2) "What do you mean with constitutionalist, because constitutionalist is not a suicide-pack; obeying the constitution doesn't mean we can let anything happen that will harm our country"

3) Yes the president does spy on people "but I'd rather be alive then free and dead"

4) "Ron, you said recently [quoteRon]; it is this kind of talk which lost the republicans the last time election!" (serious - no laughing audience)

5) No you are wrong; "Republicans lost the last election because they didn't side with the president anymore" (serious - no laughing audience)

And then the last thing he does is trying to make him look ridiculous by naming all departments which Ron Paul would like to cut (WTO, UNICEF).

Now I've seen it again, I'm even more convinced then the first two times... I don't like Colbert; he comes across very phony.

It's all satire. Colbert's opinion is supposed to be ridiculous, hence the alive than free comment and siding with the president.

Don't try to pigeonhole everybody into "convienient" categories. That's what the MSM is doing to us. colbert's "act" is too smart for him to be a clueless liberal.

Alright; if he's supposed to be doing a certain 'character' then:

1) I didn't get it;

2) Apparently most neo-cons neither as they think he's for real.

3) I think it was quite obvious he was portraying Ron Paul as a 'fringe' candidate.

When he was saying the 'siding with the president' really nobody was laughing and everybody took it serious.

He's essentially a loose parody of Hannity, O'Reilly, Limbaugh, et al. He's supposed to be the typical neocon, know-nothing, blowhard, who has an uninformed opinion, and want to jam it down your throat, but in an almost Phil Donahue-esque manner. If you're in on the joke, and not its butt, he has his moments.

Apparently Colbert teaches Sunday school. I find that amazing and unbelievable. Can anybody confirm this?

Colbert is supposed to be satirical and ridiculous and I guess he is.

But I am like GHoeberX in that I just really don't like him. I find him ignorant, juvenile and not in the least bit funny.

Notwithstanding -- I was quite happy to see Dr. Paul on his show. I am quite happy to see Dr. Paul on ANY show . . . .

This is very common on the Colbert Report. Colbert sets himself up as the neo-con "gut feeling" guy, and allows the other person to explain why his views are correct. It's really quite hilarious. :)
