CNN reporter claims most OWS protesters are libertarians that support Ron Paul

The tea party was mighty in 2010, getting Rand Paul elected, and will be a mighty force for a candidate who is not seen as a buddy of socialists. The tea party bloc is essential, and it might not be a good idea to antagonize them.

The tea party doesn't really exist anymore, sorry. It's a complete joke now.

If Ron Paul loses this election, this OWS thing will be the reason. Thanks guys, try not to sabotage Rand's campaign in 2016....

Just watching CNN and the live reporter from the scene of one of the protests was asked if the protesters were supporting any particular party or candidate and said said many are libertarians and are supporting Ron. If any GOP primary voters were watching we just lost their vote. It was pretty bad, she actually made it sound like the majority of the protesters are Ron Paul supporting Libertarians.

Who do you know that is a GOP primary voter whose mind was changed? I don't believe you. Why can't people think for themselves? Do you think that the GOP primary voters you speak of actually think that the same people who support Ron also support communism, or do you think that maybe it will help them simply realize that this is a more diverse crowd than they thought?

What about likely Democrat voters who heard that and became interested in why most of the occupy protesters are supporting a Republican?

I say net-gain.

oh come on, that is completely ridiculous

Ok, first of all, I support Ron Paul and Occupy Wall Street and I fit none of the stereotypes that ya'll are throwing around. I'd even go so far as to say that people in these forums have given me more reasons to abandon the RP ship than anything I've seen coming out of New York.

Second of all, as Ron Paul supporters, dont you all believe we should return to the Gold Standard and sound economics? If so, dont you see you have place in the Occupy Wall Street movement?

My point is this... bankers have manipulated our monetary and political systems to funnel money into a few pockets at the expense of many. That includes mine, yours, OWS, Tea Party, and whoever else. The sooner people realize the things we have in common, the sooner we can make a genuine push on behalf of working, liberty loving people.

You win elections as an underdog by building bridges, not walls.

+1

Maybe the reporter was watching Freedom Watch, where The Judge and his guest made the same foolish mistake.

I looked through those guys vids, it's broad church of people.

Some occupiers seem sound, although they are in the minority. A lot of occupiers, though, really could do with reading For A New Liberty and Human Action.

One particular comment made me laugh in disbelief. The interviewer was debating with one of the occupiers, who had the view that force is acceptable if it improves social tolerance, standard of living and people's freedom. The interviewer, then argued that the initiation of force is wrong in all circumstances. The interviewee then responded:

"Alright, but what about the elite we have. How do you induce voluntary coopertation on the rich without using force?"

I'm paraphrasing because I can't recall exactly what he said but it was shocking. It was about 5:50 in on this video.

I understand the desire to help people see what is really going on. But we are trying to win an election. Showing up to this, an event GOP voters are strongly against, with Ron Paul gear only helps to sabotage the campaign. The last thing we needed to do was make it easy for the media to tie Ron to this.

Here's how we put a stop to this. Have a speaker there shout, "I do not support Ron Paul," and then all the attendees will mindlessly repeat it, and we'll have all the proof we need.
