CIA Weapons Pause In Syria - Are We Backing Off...Or Escalating?

According to recent press reports, the CIA weapons smuggling operation to Syrian rebels has been on hold for a few weeks. At the same time, however, US Centcom Commander suggests that regular military units may be sent in to the country. Are we backing off or readying an invasion?

Sources are confirming that the CIA’s long-standing arms smuggling program for “moderate” Syrian rebels has been frozen since earlier this month, with the move coinciding with the beginning of infighting between the Free Syrian Army and al-Qaeda’s Nusra Front.

No official explanation was offered to the rebels for the freeze, though it had been reported since the election that President Trump intended to end the program, having insisted throughout the campaign that the US had no clue who the recipients of the arms actually are.

A big issue might have been that, when the FSA formed its anti-Qaeda coalition, the Nusra Front formed its own coalition to fight them, and the CIA program was arming forces in both groups, with the Nour al-Din al-Zinki faction joining the Nusra Front’s coalition against the nominally “moderate” Islamist faction.

While the US is no stranger to arming both sides of a conflict, it would be a bit unseemly to continue arming both as they escalate a fight against one-another, particularly when one party is attacking the other explicitly for not participating in the international peace talks.

And, unlike the obamanation, Trump doesn't believe in revealing his strategies to the enemy, beforehand. I have heard him say it on several occasions.
That is a very basic and rational move IMO.
I am hopeful that he will pull us out of the quagmire over there soon, but, I have a feeling he won't.

Trump hasn't declared war either, how is that any different? Obama never announced that he was arming two factions of Syria in order to destroy Syria, he just fucking did it. Now that Syria is fucking empty we are about to drop thousands of Americans lives in there, and when Russia kills one of them the American people will unify against them, and so will the international community. I'll tell you Trumps strategy, he is putting a gun to American heads and saying look what you made me do Putin.
