Christie slams Paul for Patriot Act failure

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) took a shot Saturday at his potential 2016 presidential rival, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), for blocking renewal of the Patriot Act.

In a statement from his political action committee, Christie slammed “misguided ideologues” with “no real world experience in fighting terrorism” for “putting their uninformed beliefs above the safety and security of our citizens.”

...

Christie, who is seeking to run as a Washington outsider, cast the Patriot Act vote as another example of congressional dysfunction.

"The Senate's failure to extend the Patriot Act is a failure of the U.S. government to perform its most important function — protecting its citizens from harm,” he said. “This dysfunction is what we have come to expect from Washington, D.C., but usually it does not have such dangerous and severe consequences."

So, Christie, who has no real life experience in fighting terrorism, is trying to convince us that he's an outsider by supporting what the insiders support, and is supporting it by claiming it saves American lives even though the government itself has admitted that it has never done any such thing.

Well, at least he's broad enough to straddle two fences at once...

Exactly. I don't know how these idiots like Graham and Christie can say the crap they say with a straight face.

Kristie Kreme blaming Rand Paul for the USA PATRIOT Act going down???

This is really pretty friggin' awesome! Paul is getting credit for pushing back a wildly unpopular law. And it's a bipartisan hatred of the bill.

And he's making the establishment line up in supporting this wildly unpopular law. They really do not know how the world operates outside of their bubbles.

By the time the debates roll around, Rand is going to be attacked by every other opponent on the stage. Which is only going to make the base realize which one is on their side and which ones support giving Washington ultimate power. McConnell is really doing us a huge favor. That endorsement is paying off huge.

I hope this fat piece of dog shit rots in hell when he dies of heart failure, diabetes or whatever inevitably does him in.

Wow. I guess Christie doesn't know about having principles and listening to constituents. That's what Senators are supposed to do.

Governors have been known to do it as well. Though I don't recall ever hearing of that happening in New Jersey.

I can think of a time in the not too distant past when Christ *cough* Bridgegate *cough* Christie wishes his correspondence, and that of his staff, was not quite so easily accessible.

Kinda like Christie in 2001 when he was given the US Attorney job in NJ and having no prosecutor experience, but knowing how to play well in the Bush Machine. Another ignorant ideologue. He's just cranking gears on the machine yet again.

Christie gets one vote. Same as me. I have at least as many friends as he does.
