I believe the two philosophies are so irreconcilable and completely polar opposite in nature that it is impossible to be a true libertarian and a true christian simultaneously.
1. As a libertarian you believe that using force or the threat of force, outside of self defense, to persuade or to acquire goods or services is immoral.
The bible tells us that we are to believe everything it says, ask Jesus to save us from our retched uncleanliness and we shall spend eternity in paradise when we die. What if we refuse? Pain, Agony and torture for all of eternity.
Is there any politician or friend or family member that you would allow to talk to you that way? "Believe everything i say or i will kill you". But the Bible doesn't just say you will die, oh no, its only after you die that the real fun begins! Eternal pain and suffering for all who deny the commands. This is using a form of violence so morally reprehensible that no libertarian in his right mind could adhere to such nauseating threats of force.
Is there any sin or crime that your son or daughter could commit that is so heinous that you would be willing to lock them in a basement and torture them until the end of their days? I would hope there is not and this proves that your god is not a loving one, he is an abominable creation of man to scare people into submission. Not very Libertarian!
This teaching makes love compulsory and illustrates the most wicked of human desires, the one that wishes to be a slave. This is the ultimate slave - master relationship and i am glad i do not believe in a Celestial dictatorship as you christians do. This entire belief system reminds me more of a Celestial North Korea than a Celestial America or other countries more libertarian.
2. As a libertarian you reject the idea that the federal and state governments are to take care of us from cradle to grave and instead rely on a principle of rugged individualism and self responsibility.
The teaching of vicarious redemption is completely contradictory to this libertarian belief system of taking responsibility for ones self and is probably the most immoral and ethically bereft line of thinking to ever be written down on paper.
You christians believe that you can toss your sins on a tortured corpse nailed to a cross and be "washed white as snow" eliminating yourself from the responsibility of your own sins.
A loving father on this earth can pay for his child's debt if he makes bad decisions and gets in over his head. In extreme acts of love there have even been cases were a father would serve his sons jail time. But under no circumstances can a father ever tell his son "you never killed that person" or "you never stole that item" if the kid did indeed commit these crimes. Why cant a loving father do this? Because that would take away the responsibility his son has for owning up to his sins and changing his actions.
This idea that you can scapegoat your sins onto a rotting piece of flesh and have your sins wiped away reeks of a dark ages type of immoral thinking that lets you relinquish yourself of your responsibility for said sins.
Its time we put away beliefs in ancient documents written before we knew what a germ or atom was. Its time we understand that these unlettered books are mans first attempt at cosmology, biology, sociology and psychology and we do not need magic sky daddies anymore to explain the natural world.
And anyone who tells me i have to believe in something or i will roast in unimaginable suffering for all of eternity, i say fuck you, i will not be talked to in that tone and as a true libertarian, you should not put up with such tyrannical language either .
