Check this out on Rush Limbaugh's website.

Many years ago Rush saved me from the cult of socialistic nanny state ideology. I resisted for months, but I found his arguments intriguing and eventually he talked me out of it. For that I owe him a debt of gratitude. The best way to repay him for that is to Paul-it-forward and save him from his cult of global warfare-ism (is that a word?)

Like Ron Paul told Sean Hannity yesterday "You'll come around." And I hope he does. He could become the most powerful asset to the Ron Paul conservative movement.

I'm sure after Rush's run in with the law he probably thinks this country's drug laws are a disgrace.

I listen to Rush on a very regular basis and he is not great to Dr. Paul, but he rarely speaks of him. He has been destroying Huck today and you gotta love that! It is just the war opposition that is really hurting Dr. Paul with the wide conservative base, but a true conservative would oppose this war! It is either stand on principle, or send young men to die. Dr. Paul has done the right thing.

it also says "a conservative does not support peolosi-like anti-war rhetoric" ..

What you are implying contains a fallacy. Paul's position on the war is nothing like Pelosi's. Pelosi pays lip service to being against the war for political reasons. Ron Paul is not against the war for political party points - far from it, it has alienated him in his party and he does it anyway because he knows he is right under the law, he is against the war on constitutional grounds and his principles, one of the very very few in DC.

"a conservative does not support peolosi-like anti-war rhetoric"

He never said the true conservative couldn't be against the war.

No they don't. Pelosi's anti-war rhetoric is different from Paul's and comes from a completely different ideological premise.

"Name one Republican who ever got us into a war... name one Democrat who ever got us out"

Rush is a Thompson fan most likely. He doesn't really know how to play Paul so he just say's he's crazy due to foreign policy ideas.

Honestly, I do not believe Rush will every publicly endorse a candidate until after the primary and one has been selected. He is a professional Conservative Radio Host and he would sacrifice that by alienating his audience with an endorsement of anyone. He may beat up on candidates but I highly doubt, in fact I am almost certain he will not endorse anyone at this point. In essence, "don't sh$t where you eat".

I think Rush is secretly praying for a RP 3rd place win. If that happens we aren't the fringe anymore. We are mainstream, and then the big names can come out for us. Rush, Dobson, etc... And mark my words if they do, they will all be saying the same thing, "you may not agree with him on everything; but, as far as fiscal conservatism goes he is the man."

Ahhh... I can dream.

It helps Paul just as much to have Rush be critical of Huck as for him to be supporting Paul at this point. I don't think you will see Rush 'officially' endorse anyone during the primaries unless it looks like Huck is going to win somehow.

it just came to me.

Rush does want Ron Paul to win. But Rush knows that he (rush) has become a very polarizing figure in politics. If he were to come right out and support Ron Paul that would probably turn off large numbers of people just because they are anti-Rush. So the best he can do is bash the other candidates and voice support for the same positions Ron Paul takes.

Could be.....

I think that Rush is a closet Ron Paul supporter big time! I can't wait till he does well in Iowa and NH and then comes around to RP!

I agree that if Rush wants RP to win he would know that his endorsement would hurt more than help with many of the new people the Good Doctor has brought into his constitutionalist libertarian camp.

Having been overseas for a decade I haven't heard Rush at all in that time, but from reading this and other boards I get the impression that Rush would have a hard time with Ron's foreign policy plank.
