All this is childish. Juvenile. This kind of thing from us hurt Ron badly. And it will hurt Rand.

welcome to the revolution.
I recommend watching the movie "For Liberty" for a better understanding of our bottom up campaign tactics.

No amount of bitchin' on your part is going to change that.
Just consider yourself lucky that people haven't blown up his cell phone, home phone. posted signs outside his shack... and/or throw large amounts of snowballs at him.

By comparison. This is restraint.

Agreed..No need to be mean.

For all we know Tray probably has watched some of the videos thet the guy brought to him and said

Damn! This Rand Paul fella kicks ass, Im not going to run against him anymore...

Or maybe im just delusional

Yeah, well Torch, as well-meaning as we may have been, you have to admit that most of us had no clue about the political process and others of us who did have some, were way over confident and made huge mistakes because of it.

Just like we say that if Ron runs again, that he needs to not make the same mistakes he did last time around, WE could probably also benefit from that same medicine.

Things that WE think are hilarious, sometimes don't appear that way to the normal voter. And it is the normal voter that Rand Paul is trying to attract and MUST attract to win. Let's just maximize the helping side and minimize the hurting side. I think that is all Huey is saying. The goal, after all, is to get the man ELECTED.

Well said LE. The RP campaign made mistakes and so did the grass roots. Let's hope everybody learns from the mistakes. To this day when I talk to Republican voters it is the extreme actions of the grassroots that turned them off to RP because they thought that is how he felt and encouraged it.

Bottom up campaign tactics? Please.

How much did you get in your runs for office? 2%?

There is merit to both sides of the 'top down' and 'bottom up' campaign mantra. To further the liberty movement during Rons campaign, the organic, multi faceted, 'bottom up' structure was a big asset. Not necessarily a risk with Ron but he was marginalized and he was dismissed as a 'kook' and racist... normally death to a political campaign. The bottom up organization kept that from happening. Mass Grassroots appeal actually added greatly to the campaigns legitimacy.

Rands situation is different. He is now a 'front runner' It would be wise for supporters to step back and start contemplating where their actions start detracting from Rands legitimacy, by being a 'rabel' as we've labeled ourselves instead of the result up until now where a very visible dedicated group of supporters were adding legitimacy. I see that Rand's candidacy (and Rons legacy in a way) are just now stepping into the game of 'serious' political contenders.

To the 'not to be contained' amongst the supporters Id say just keep an eye towards the campaign. Trust that it might be necessary for some 'top down' structure and it would be OK. Rands principles have a very low risk of co-opting any one supporters personally important issues or cause. He doesn't have an agenda except getting \elected to promote liberty. Some mutual trust is in order.

All or nothing either way does not apply.

Or maybe you're on the far end of the bell curve for humor and maturity relative to the US population. Which end?

Why doesn't just someone stand in front of him, with their back towards him, when he's recording. It'll futile for him to keep showing up or the Grayson campaign will have to hire two recorders, which will cost em more money.

I think you're absolutely right, especially since Grayson won't allow himself to be filmed in the same way.

19% at 23 years of age against a Democratic incumbent in a 90% democratic district. I ran as a Libertarian and hold the record for vote percentage gained by a libertarian on a louisiana ballot.

By the way what election have you won?

So torch, when are we gonna get you into office? You need to move to a different district to have a chance?

I've been considering running in the future, when the wifey is done with nursing school and I could potentially afford the paycut.

Waiting for Harry Silver to step down. I actually can win this city council seat.
Then I'll see about state rep after that.
It takes a lot to win a campaign. There is no "formula" besides getting in front of people.

Bobby Jindal won his campaign on basically TV ads alone. Not one billboard- or print ad.
The guy that helped that campaign in this area is a friend of mine and will help me when the time comes.

People like Huey come on here acting like they know shit- but he hasn't put is foot in the ring.
But is the first to try to act like I have no idea what i'm talking about- and i've been doing this shit since 1996.
90% of the people here wouldn't know who ron paul was if all he did was run a traditional top down campaign. There would have been no money bombs. nothing. no rand paul campaign. nothing without the grassroots bottom up approach.

we aren't going to do this the traditional way.
The whole reason Ron Paul stood out was because he wasn't doing the traditional "play to the crowd" bullshit.

Bobby Jindal spent millions on direct mail. Voters got dozens of pieces.

He also spent an incredible amount on radio. Particularly, Christian radio.

amen brother!

Do you know an ad guy with the last name Hendrix? from central louisiana?
he gave me the full details of the central louisiana plan for jindal.
His motto was TV-TV-TV.
He stated- the more people see you on tv, the more credible you seem.

I don't doubt your friend told you that. But let me assure you, Jindal spent millions on mail -- I saw the pieces. And he spent an incredible amount on radio, and christian radio.

Jindal ran a full portfolio campaign.

Good grief. This is such a nothing issue. I can't believe some are being so serious about this. Does a few videos about the the cameraman stalking Rand really spell the difference between whether Rand wins or not? Give me a break.

Seems the media successfully chopped off some people's balls during the 2008 election, to the point that they will only play "fair" for fear of....what, exactly? Which is sad since the competition has NO intention of playing "fair", which the fact that there is even a stalker cameraguy following Rand around proves. Grow a sack and stop whining. Ron Paul said "HAVE FUN!". If it means giving Pancakes some shit over being a stooge then so be it. Where did all the ballsy people go?
