Cassis plays 'truther' card in new ad attacking Bentivolio

Conspiracy theorist has such a bad connotation to it. Just because someone asks questions shouldn't open them up to immediate ridicule.

What a misrepresentation. It's the type of questions being asked that's the issue. There is a difference between asking "should we audit the Federal Reserve?" and "is Xenu II the real leader of the United States and the government is covering it up?"

The American electorate has a low tolerance for 'truther' garbage, that is why outspoken 'truthers' will never win statewide or national elected office. Just ask Medina how quickly it can all blow up when you give even a whiff of being sympathetic to trutherism:

Medina actually leads the race with people who think she's not a truther- with 33% to 32% for Kay Bailey Hutchison and 29% for Rick Perry. But with voters who think she is a truther, or that she might be, she gets only 7% to 51% for Perry and 30% for Hutchison.

Alex Jones chose the term to denote people who believed "9/11 is an inside job". So, if you don't like that some people look upon that term derogatorily, you may want to speak to Alex about it.

Any evidence that Alex Jones coined the term? Because I'm pretty sure he didn't.

I could be wrong, but that is what I recall. I listened to Jones back then and I remember him talking about the need to come up with a term that he viewed as positive, rather than letting others assign a name. From what I remember, the term, Truthers, was decided upon.

If you have evidence to the contrary, ok. That's just what I remember.

And this my friends is why we MUST shed the conspiracy element of the movement. Why give ammo to the other side to be used against us?

Meh. Our buddy Steve Dickerson is being attacked in direct mailings because of a picture of him in a rock and roll band where his band mate if flipping the bird and sticking his tongue out.

If people want to smear you, they'll smear you. That said, I don't know why Kerry decided to play in this particular movie. Putting yourself out in media in away way that might be unflattering can be a problem. Look at the Greek Olympian that got kicked off her team for a joke tweet.

You could be right. I recall reading a journal article (no longer have the link) where a researcher looking into the 9/11 conspiracy phenomenon and (first time I remember) used the terms LIHOP and MIHOP for "let it happen on purpose" and "made it happen on purpose". Anyway, regardless of who coined the term it's funny (and said) that people looking for the truth are maligned. It just shows we live in an Orwellian dystopia. Truth is indeed treason in an empire of lies.

Yeah, that seems to be the bottom line. If people plan on running for office of any kind, ever, it's best to keep your nose clean. Everything in politics is perception and you don't want to have to spend time explaining away something that you did in the past.

Conspiracy theorists gotta go. Maybe they can all go join the libertarian party.

That isn't necessary. Plus, it's pretty damn rude, brandon.

I just hope we all can keep focused on spreading the liberty message and remember that in politics, perception is everything.

It is necessary. I can't even count how many times they have called me a "sheep", or controlled opposition, or a troll, or an undercover agent, all because I suggested maybe their conspiracies weren't true.

These people are like a plague on the liberty movement. They may have been an asset 5 years ago, but they're not anymore.

But, you are assigning a certain behavior to everyone who knows that conspiracies exist and that's not only unfair, it's collectivist. Not everyone acts the same way.

Yes, let's not talk about conspiracies such as the Gulf of Tonkin that let to the deaths of over 50,000 Americans or the Banksters getting together to set up the Federal Reserve. That does not help people wake up at all. That shit is toxic.

I understand that the general public has a hatred of conspiracy theorists. But why do you?
Because a lot of them don't have tact. And the ones that do are overshadowed by those who don't. I also hate logical fallacies.

Yes. Let's disenfranchise a large percentage of the movement. Good idea.
I didn't say "people" I said "element". Element in that context meant the ideas or the topic of discussion, or the component. I am not talking about disenfranchising anybody, but some of the ideas they perpetuate.

So, you're doing the same thing as brandon. Assigning the behavior of some, to all.

Let's continue with that line of reasoning, shall we? It appears to be a common tendency of short people to have a napoleon complex and a deep-rooted desire to rule over people. Since some short people have those issues, perhaps we should root them out too.

A short person who feels inferior because of their size. They tend to take it out on other people and thrive on power trips. Shouting at others, especially when they are in a position of power, is common. Side affects include short temper, power trips/power-hungriness, anger issues, and often a bad sense of humor.

I know that's awesome! :D

But why hand them ammo? The video in the OP is an example of making it easy for the opposition to find something against you.

And if you believe the mainstream media "blacked out" Ron Paul (as most of us do) you are by definition a "conspiracy theorist" as well.
But the difference is that is provable which means it's not a theory.

Those aren't theories, those are facts; historical facts.
