temporarily. at some point the libertarians will kick out the neocons or vice versa.

There are more of us, they just use pretending they will address cultural issues to make the evangelicals their foot soldiers, then they move the finish line by saying the only way to REALLY address cultural issues is at the federal level -- where it will never happen.

This power grab by Romney may make some start questioning who their friends are -- at least I can hope. Probably need a bunch of events like that, though.

yeah, but that doesn't guarantee anything, the neocons have always been a minority.

Political conventions are designed to unify a party behind its candidate and sell the nation on his virtues. But one does not necessarily lead to the other.

-Actually I don't believe the Republicans have had a **true convention since Reagan tried to upset Ford in 76'. Ironically, Ron Paul headed the Texas delegation in support of candidate Reagan.

Anyways, these conventions aren't supposed to be a coronation ceremony for "presumptive nominees", they are a place of impassioned debate and true party business. Today's conventions are tax payer funded beauty pageants designed to boost party PR. In spite of what you see Monday, the GOP is NOT unified and is at war with itself for the future of the party.

My comment :)

from this it looks like the Bachmann Cain overdrive tea party unity rally had 1000 and Ron's event had 10,000+.

So much for unity.

Wow, you know I actually forgot about that Rally. Looking back on when it was first announced I feel kind of silly thinking it would blot out Ron's celebration rally. The truth has always been popular and will prevail.

I can be in a tent to get rid of the stench of Obama and his disgusting command and control stupid economic socialism policies. I wish the social conservatives would stop pushing parts of their agenda. Right now for me, economic policy trumps the rest.

Ron Paul is a social conservative, as he supports the Sanctity of Life Act and the Defense of Marriage Act. The neo-conservatives are the ones who need to be kicked out of the GOP.

I was under the impression that the self proclaimed social cons are fairly liberal when it comes to economics, maybe i'm just generalizing though.

Bachmann, Santorum, Gingrich (when he played the card) - All seem to be in the boat for aggressive government spending.

Neo-conservative wonder boy Rubio gets the speaking spot right before Romney.

Was hoping Rand would be the rockstar they roll-out in preparation for 2016 or 2020. No surprise Rubio being the anointed one. I suspect it will be a media love fest over Rubio on Wednesday, no matter how poorly he does.

bachmann is good on things like tarp but fine with huge police state and mandated social policy.

the other two suck across the board.

I agree. They are severely damaged goods. Kristol takes a lot of flack from non-Paul supporters in open forums these days. The public is really turned off the neocons right now.

I really wish people would do research on Bill Kristol... http://www.lewrockwell.com/north/north180.html

And ask how he got to where he is.

He was one of the top picks for VP, I think. This was his consolation prize.

But yeah, the older neoconservatives are busy at work grooming for the next gen.
