California will be the Key.

Please Dont get peoples hopes up on California, I am involved here as an assistant organizer and main organizer of a student chapter.. we follow trends, they want a winner and they will jump on a frontrunner bandwagon.

From my encounters with the general populace at tabling, they like Guiliani by name recognition.. and huckabee for the mom and pop shop types.

Huckabee and Giuliani have no chance out here. Romney will be the challenge. People see romney as a snively little groveling new york weasel who had a sanctuary city in ny.

Huckabee has no chance in hell out here. He's looked at as a televangelist.

i have a list of my own personal stupid reasons why i think the good doc will win california.

i think california doesnt have the majority of voters being senior citizens (the ones who vote for the candidate that has personality traits they like, "mccain oh hes a leader" "huck is a strong christian and seems like a person i could trust" "romney looks the part plus hes a good businessman"
we dont vote based on religion(iowa)
dont mean to sound rascist but the rich white population doesnt vote(because theyre rich and nothing changes in politics anyways right so they keep living the good life anyways)
black people are for obama
mexicans dont care, or bother to vote
asians dont care
lower class doesnt care
that leaves us with the middleclass and young college students
everybody here in cali have busy lives unlike iowa and nh so i dont think people will vote, especially for a primary
our meetup groups destroys everybody elses
plus california doesnt care for guiliani
and this ends my list lol

That wasn't pc but it was funny and somewhat true at the same time. You made a few good points.

I think Ron can win the Mexican vote out here in CA because he stands out as not being for benefits but also not being for forced deportation (a la Rudy, romney, etc). Mexican-Americans would never vote for someone that wanted to forcibly deport illegals, but I'm pretty sure they're really annoyed that people who don't have legal status are enjoying all the perks that they pay for as citizens, so I think Ron has the right stance to win them over (among republicans, at least)

it's true. Our meetup groups here are HUGE and highly motivated. We have a coherent plan of attack and no other candidate has a significant presence here.

They like to call NH "libertarian" but they showed today that most of them are neo-cons.

Most californians I know are a.) highly internet literate b.) really pissed off at the federal government and c.) pot smokers.

this is a winning combination.

Either way we pretty much hate every republican but ron paul and duncan hunter. But hunter is pretty much a non-factor at this point.

I never expected to do well in new hampshire really. Look for us to come strong in SC and MI, and win in NV, CA, and possibly TX.

I HPE EVERYONE is aware that the GOP of California has a "POISON PILL" policy... INDEPENDENTS CANNOT VOTE for any GOP candidate. This is the Main Stream "Fix the Election" because RON PAUL would take all the independents.

I'm sure everyone has seen the SAN FRANCISCO STRAW POLL FIASCO too?

You have to be a REGISTERED Republican ONLY, to VOTE ON SUPER TUESDAY!

a good chunk of my friends are mexican, almost half. trust me, mexicans dont care about any politicians, especially republicans competing in a primary. they dont vote, along with asians. you'd think that they would because of the immigration issue, but they wont.

dont feed the trolls ;)

There's a state before California that will be the key.

But I'm not making any more predictions any more. They only encourage trolls and whiners, when those aren't met 100%.

This alexa girl has been fighting her way through the night....the only sane posts are from her....the thing is you don't sound "positive".....but very logical.....

so I say troops redeployment to the WEST.....NEVADA AND CALIFORNIA SHOULD BE OUR KEY....not to forget the rest of the western states....I dont know about florida.....winner takes all and we know the juliane numbers.....

people please focus the grassroot ....strategize and know the demographics of the population to target...

i have a question. i know i could look this up but i figure someone could answer this for me without me having to look through documents on one of those notoriously tedious .gov sites.

i just sent my voter registration signed the other day,
i've never voted before but...
what kind of identification do you need to vote here when you get to the ballots?

That's the spirit.

Well we said it for Iowa. We said it for NH. Now we have South Carolina, Michigan and now I guess California.

What are we doing to ensure that these states will be "the key"? Are we learning from our mistakes in NH and Iowa or are we doing the same nonsense and thinking we will get different results?

Sometimes you need to be realistic and not dreaming. We were dreaming as we came into NH and it's really taken a blow to the grassroots.

Look at the fundraising for today. Look at the fundraising for this month. We have been behind Huckabee ever since Iowa.

I am all for rallying the troops, but be realistic. When you set people up for one state only to get 5th place, it knocks the winds right out of their sails. :( I am glad you are optimistic because quite frankly I am not and I don't see myself being optimistic unless major changes occur in the campaign. This loss in NH has driven the stake into my heart.

Obama will dominate California and I predict McCain on the GOP side will win unless the RP campaign changes its advertising strategy to appeal to independents rather than the Republican establishment. Most important is highlighting his position on the war, as well as his voting history which distinguishes him from all the other so-called antiwar candidates. This is the only way.

I'm not making any speculations anymore. All I know is I'm in this thing until the end. By the way, I'm a Californian and will be voting absentee very soon. :)

Agreed. Ron Paul needs to highlight his DIFFERENCES. Advertise his record of being Dr No! Show important votes that he strayed from everyone and let him say WHY.

A brief showing of a vote total from C-Span and then have Dr Paul come on and say "And I voted against the X bill because it was not Constitutional..." etc etc

Show some of his bills that he's proposed, or co-sponsored. Stuff like Flake's (or is it Shadegg's) bill for proposing why every bill that comes through Congress must note how it is granted in the Constitution and why it's important.

I still think Dr Paul needs to do an INFOMERCIAL!!!
.

doubt it.. i cant see them being pro-war and amnesty over there

McCain got 41% of the antiwar vote in NH because he is a good liar. He is also still claiming he didn't support amnesty which a lot of people are gullible enough to believe.

I particularly meant his voting record on war issues like the Patriot Act and Iraq, which no other candidate can challenge him on, but your idea is good also.
