One of the most liberal Representatives in Congress wants California to raise its minimum wage to $26 an hour.
Appearing on Crossfire on Friday, co-host Newt Gingrich asked Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) whether it was a good idea for the mayor of Seattle to propose a minimum wage of $15 an hour. Lee said, "good for him."

"In California, more than likely from what I remembered, a living wage where people could live and take care of their families and move toward achieving the American dream was about $25, $26 an hour," Lee said.

When pressed further, Lee said she would "absolutely" support it for California and claimed it would not cause more unemployment.

Hilarity will ensue

Yaaay!! Those kids on the street corners flipping signs for apartments rentals and the like absolutely deserve to be paid as much as a mid level HelpDesk tech!

And a little more left-right paradigm.

Watching that video was an entirely tortuous experience after being disconnected to the CNN mindset for so long, yet remembering how it once framed my worldview.

Maybe these "Megamouths" should take a job in their respective state legislatures and pass a bill to raise the minimum to $26/hr, like rep. Barbara Lee wants, esp. in California. I think California has a super-majority of democrats in both their state house bodies, so it should be a cakewalk to pass. Go ahead Lee, try it and let us know how it works out.

Nothing stopping them from raising the minimum wage in these Marxist modeled states.

Just be prepared for;

1.) No more Welfare/Low Income Benefits (Laptops, tablets, ObamaPhones, EBT-FOOD STAMPS, Electricity, water, sewer, telephones, Sec 8...
2.) Higher Federal Income Tax Rates
3.) Higher State Income Tax Rates
4.) No more ObamaCare subsidies
5.) Higher deductables
6.) Subsidized/Grants for education
7.) Whatever else I missed

See how fast you watch these Phony CON ARTISTS in Congress backtrack when you put them on the spot about their Marxist-Communist-Manifesto Progress complex taxing systems.

LIES, ALL LIES by these politicians... it has already been proven in today's economy, salaries/wages vs benefits make the poor unproductive because of these government welfare/subsidy programs.

Enough talk. Raise that minimum wage to $26 (or preferably higher) now! Please, State, I beg this of you.

At least she is an honest liberal. Think the economic gain you get from raising the minimum wage just to $15. Now think how whatever benefit will be doubled(almost) if you further raise it to $26, this is a woman who is ideologically consistent and for that reason alone, I support her over all the other flaky liberals. All you naysayers will be eating crow when California starts reaping all the benefits.

You go Girl!!!

Interesting.

New Hampshire and Louisiana don't have general minimum wages.
The unemployment rates in NH and LA are 4.5%

Washington, on the other hand, has a unemployment rate of 6.3%, making it the 28th - worse than average.

Doesn't Oregon have the 2nd highest minimum wage? It's unemployment rate is a very high 6.9%! That makes it 1 of the 10 worst states in the nation.

I am sure the cowardly republican congress in the panel is regretting supporting the current Magical minimum wage number after learning that countries in Europe without one have a lower unemployment rate than countries that do have one. I know its better to compare a country after they adopted or repealed minimum wage laws to obtain a better effect of it but this difference in this case is large enough to convince any naysayer.

Newt Gingrich did so well until the end where he tried to play the populist card by asking why only billionaires are being allowed to bid for the clippers team.

How is she honest or ideologically consistent? Perhaps if she'd argue for $1,000 per hour minimum wage I'd agree, but $26 doesn't even begin to cut it, particularly in Commiefornia.

According to her, $25 -26 is the living wage rate for California and she supports it as minimum wage rate for cali. This is what liberals call for all the time and here we have a liberal who is actually going on the record saying she supports if even when the wage is a ridiculous $25/hr. My guess is that she will also support $1000/hr if that is what the calculation for living wage came out to be.

Then she's a fool and should be nowhere near a positition of governance, and a stingy fool at that. If she really cared about the poor she would advocate for $1,000/hr at the least.
