Nice pick.

But you guys don't have a colored, lesbian communist to choose from?

Should start a pool thread on this one.

Thread winner! Meet Senator Laphonza Butler, black, female, lesbian.

Her social media feeds have probably been scrubbed in the past few days, but what is out there says a lot:

Supports gun control, lives for identity politics, hates MAGA/Trump, and is Kamala Harris's biggest fan.

Guess that statement bit her in the ass, now that she is taking a senate seat that was only available to black women. Not an equal opportunity was it? I thought Newsome would go for broke and throw trangender in there too. I was wrong. But hey it worked for Biden right?

She is a Harris buddy, and so is Newsom. This person will vacate and Harris will go back to Senate.

While (T)rans would fit in as it is the controversy of the day, Newsom fulfilled his LGBTQIA2S+ obligation with this pick.

Gavin Newsom's pick to replace Feinstein appears to scrub online evidence of living in Maryland
An FEC filing, her employer's website and her own social media account said Laphonza Butler lives in Maryland
By Anders Hagstrom - October 2, 2023

California Gov. Gavin Newsom's pick to replace the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein in the Senate has been quick to scrub online evidence that she actually lives in Maryland.

Screenshots of Laphonza Butler's account on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, show that she still listed her location as "Maryland" on Sunday when news of her selection was first reported. Her account has since been updated and currently does not list any location.

Butler, who is president of the pro-abortion group EMILY's List, has a bio on the organization's website that was changed hours after the news of her Senate appointment came out, removing references to her living in Maryland. A previous version of her bio concluded with the sentence, "She lives in Maryland with her partner Neneki Lee and their daughter Nylah," which has since been removed.

In addition to the online references to Maryland, a Federal Election Commission filing from EMILY's List also identified Butler as a resident of Silver Spring, Maryland, as recently as Aug. 31.

If Californians cared, they'd probably feel pretty sh!t on right now, that someone not even from their state has been hand-picked to represent them. If they were actually representing them.

Fortunately, Butler won't actually represent their interests, and Californians do not seem to care what their government does.
