I love that some people here got the idea that non-interventionism means that we acknowledge theocracies that want to start nuclear wars as heroic and democracies that act in their own self-defense as despotic...
Iran says, "we want nuclear weapons, in order to wipe Israel off the map despite the fact that they don't even border us, let alone pose us any threat."
Israel says, "we're going to defend ourselves if you do that."
Leftist says, "Israel is an evil machination of dirty, greedy, hooknose Jews! Can you believe they want to defend themselves? I hope Iran wipes them and America off the map!"
Iran controls Hezbollah, hell-bent on overthrowing Lebanon. Iran has made Syria its puppet state. Iran's Ayatollah is a dictator, albeit with a puppet democracy.. oh right, just like Saddam Hussein. Iran has sworn to destroy Israel with nuclear weapons. I think the situation has a little bit more in common with what happened in the 80's than just the names of the countries.
This isn't like the current Iraq War either in that Israel has been directly threatened existentially by aggressive threat, Israel is not looking to nation-build, nor does it help Israeli business interests or anything. It's a total act of self-defense against aggressive guarantees. Of course I'd rather see this solved by diplomacy, but I'd also rather see a few conventional bombs destroy a nuclear facility than a a few nuclear bombs destroy a sovereign nation.
One country affirming its right to defend itself against threats of destruction isn't bad. It's natural law.
