Buchanan: Will Trump be swindled in Cleveland, too?

Sanders, last week, was saying that what disqualifies Clinton as president is her support for free trade deals that gutted American industry and cost millions of jobs, and her support for an Iraq war that was among the costliest, bloodiest blunders in U.S. history.

On both issues, Trump agrees with Sanders. Cruz, an uber-hawk and free trader, is more aligned with Clinton.

If the “America First” stance on foreign and trade policy, close to a majority position today, is unrepresented by either party this fall, and we get a free trade, War Party president, the divisions within the country will widen and deepen.

If Sanders and his revolution are sent packing in Philadelphia, and Trump is robbed in Cleveland of a nomination Americans believe he won, political disillusionment, and political realignment, may be at hand.

They won't have to "rob" Trump, if he can't win on the first ballot, most of his delegates will jump to other candidates, as they are allowed to do. This speaks to the incompetence of the Trump campaign and the candidacy of Trump himself- if he can't swing a majority of delegates to his side, he has no business being the party standard-bearer. No doubt he will cry foul, this is his way, as evidenced by his responses to every contest he has lost. It plays very well in the interest of Trump that "Trump got cheated", rather than "Trump got beat".

The majority of the delegates not running their mouths, are shit scared of Trump's supporters. You are talking about 2400 people. I doubt if we have even heard from 100 of them on how they will vote. Not all of them want to move to the Caribbean for the next 8 years with an admin in exile like Limbaugh refers to.

The Colorado GOP was emboldened when they fought off Tancredo in 2015. Tancredo was with Cruz anyway.

It's easy for party insiders to unite Kasich, Rubio & Cruz to align delegates against Trump. Kasich likes to win sometimes so he aligns with Trump at times in the upper midwest and east coast probably.

I'll bet you just loved how the RNC refused to seat Ron's Maine delegates too. I mean, it was the RNC's right not to, after all.

The Maine delegates won fair and square. It was wrong for the RNC to unseat them.

According to the logic you used earlier, it would have been fine. Because the Republican Party establishment can choose their delegates as they desire and they didn't desire Ron Paul's. "Fair" is nowhere in the rules. Sorry.

The CO delegation was elected by registered GOP.
The Maine delegation who got unseated were also elected by registered GOP.

Buchanan lost whatever credibility he had when he started supporting Trump.

...go retire Pat, no one gives a shit what you have to say.

...and keep defending Nixon's price controls, while you're at it, you big conservative you...

One of the many big mistakes the trump people are making is they are organizing protests, intimidating other delegates, making threats, etc., when they should be not only getting their people through the precinct/county levels to the state conventions, but also making sure they get their people into committee seats (RP 2012 did a decent job at this). When the RNC rolls around, they will likely hear numerous trump challenges- it would be in his best interest (if he really wants to win) to have some of those committee members on his side, especially after firing up the rabble to harass, threaten, intimidate many of the other members on the committee.

They're incapable of exploiting party rules.

And when things don't go their way in Cleveland, they'll just riot, claiming ignorance of the rules.

Stupidity, the cause of and solution to all of life's problems...

They wont have to riot if the delegates are already scared in their eyes. Nominate Trump and just work for a Hillary victory to keep the peace.

No one should be afraid of Trump rioters.

About two-third of the country would happily look in the other direction as the Cleveland Police Dept. beat them senseless.

...but, depending on the amount of noise this would make, it might be better to let Retard win and then lose.

Totally agree with you. The delegates "rules" are a smoke screen. Party insiders can change the rules at will to suit their needs. Its kinda ironic how some RP supporters keep hammering Trump about the "rules".

All Trump had to do was get his people out to the precinct caucuses. He did not care enough for his supporters in CO or to even be active in the local GOPs, he sent a guy out there a week before the state convention (way too late), not to organize, but to stage a "fury" to blame the state party in an attempt to cover up his own indifference and/or incompetence.

Yes, it is, isn't it. But, if the tables were turned, they would be screaming and gnashing their teeth. But, since it is someone they don't like, it's A-ok. Even good. So much for those principles....

And then the same thing happens to Trump delegates as to what happened to RP Maine delegates. At least I know Trump is gonna fight. RP sadly didn't have that high energy fire. Did RP start a media frenzy and blame GOP for Maine steal? Would Rand do it?

They can't unseat his delegates if he's not winning any. He couldn't even win 1 out of 34 open seats in CO, because he doesn't care to organize his supporters. They should be protesting outside Trump Towers, demanding to know why he left them hanging. Trump just diverts their attention by saying he got cheated, and hopes they won't figure it out.

That is not a mistake. Politics is force and if voting does not do it, it gets ugly.

Oh your lies are so precious.
