Bring Your Guns To Washington Day...?

If they don't want to be possibly tazed, they need to stay at home. There is nothing that makes a politician sweat more than a bunch of angry armed citizens.

Somehow I doubt cops would be willing to use a Tazer amongst a crowd of armed, upset people. I think the most likely outcome will be a police presence but they will not interfere. Remember, cops like it when they are the only ones armed and they outnumber the citizens. I bet they will be on their best behavior when the roles are reversed.

The difference is the crowd is armed with a gun that can't fire... so basically a small club.

You think the police are willing to take that chance? Taze one guy and I bet it would get ugly very quickly. There WILL be ammo there, I guarantee it.

As I stated earlier in this thread, firearms on federal park land is now perfectly legal, as is peaceful assembly. The police would have no legal grounds to do anything to the people and I bet you the people would know it. Just wouldn't be a smart move by the police.

Firearms on federal park land IS perfectly legal.... with a permit... right?

All you need is one nut to start some major problems at a public event like this.

Or a stupid cop? an Agent Provocateur?

May I reference Lexington ?

It is only a matter of time before there is some confrontation somewhere.

Who will you condemn? The citizens that have made every effort to be heard peacefully?
Or the government with a history of violence?

"every effort to be heard peacefully" is the sticky part.

Should I give my blessing to a McCain “lesser of two evils” voter who picks up arms?

I have not seen “every effort to be heard peacefully”.

You know what I’m saying, folks scared to vote their conscience for losing to Democrats, yet say they will take up arms.

As I see it, weapons give backbone to do what is right peacefully (vote), and not necessarily to force or intimidate “what’s right” as the government does.

The Oath Keepers project this well, as if to say “the Oath Keepers got your back so don’t be afraid to peacefully do the right thing”.

However, I am not in favor of having people walking around Walmart with an AK47...

And... why is that?

Never carry a gun unless you are prepared to use it. It is like going to work framing houses and bringing your hammer but forgetting the nails.

No, it's not like that. No one goes to Wal-Mart with a concealed carry to kill people. They do it for their protection, because they just like to, or because they're proud. You ever think a person might be proud enough of their profession (citizen soldier or otherwise) to not hide it from the public?

I hate how everyone keeps their firearm ownership hush hush, as if we were all violating some sort of law or Commandment. Jeesh

Pico, I don't mean to disrespect, but you're not at the DNC or a DARE Meeting. You're in Liberty Forest.

How is it that you oppose Liberty and post simultaneously?

Nope... I'm not a fan of the democrats, and to be honest find not much use for many of the republicans these days. I would be a registered Libertarian, and while that may make my words peg me for a hypocrit, I think the less DC knows about us these days the better. Let me stop and say I'm not a conspiracy theory kind of guy, but the less Uncle Sugar knows about my firearms the better off I am. I do not have illegal firearms, and while carrying an AK 47 in public might not seem like a bad idea for some, only a fool would think it would not attract unnecessary attention. Why bring that kind of possible hurt down on yourself? There is not a purpose for it.

As for my comment about if you carry a gun you need to be prepared to use it, there is nothing like the sound of a gun that goes click when you are expecting pop. Why bring a tool to a rally, obviously trying to make a point, without the cabability to use it if a problem arises? If this event is truely an unarmed event, then you all set yourselves up to be almost like a herd of cattle heading off to the slaughter house. I hope nothing comes out of it, but with the politicians on both sides being attacked, without anyone being prosecuted to this point, I would stay away from this for a while.

It has always been my personality to keep a low profile. The nice thing about this country is we all have rights, and if you choose to exercise your rights in this way, the more power to you. I just think this could be perhaps served in better ways.

The recent legislation allowed concealed carry on federal park land but open carry defaults to whatever the law of the state the park rests in says. That is my understanding at least. VA is full open carry so this particular protest would be legal.

Please correct me if I'm wrong here since that's not something I want to be mistaken about. Some searching isn't turning up much info one way or the other.

From what I've read the event seems very above board. Run by Responsible patriots.

Here is the link to the self-regulation / park rules: WRSA

Yeah, just FYI I didn't need to read past this. You certainly are the NRA.

And if it's happening in Alexandria then the powers-that-be can cram it with walnuts. There's nothing to be done about it.

Patriots,

I would like to post and clear a few things up.

There are two distinct events occuring on April 19th.

One is the Second Amendment March. It is in Washington, D.C. at the Washington Monument. It has been in the works for over a year. The plan is for everyone to be unarmed. I am working as a volunteer to promote this event, and I am going to try to be there. The website is secondamendmentmarch.com. There are also state marches on various dates. I am going to post a new thread about this.

The other event, the Restore The Constitution rally, is not connected to the Second Amendment March. It is a rally over on the other side of the Potomac at Ft. Hunt National Park in Virginia. The website is http://restoretheconstitution.wordpress.com/. There will be open carry going on; please see the website regarding this.

Hope this clears things up. Any questions regarding the Second Amendment March? Just ask me.
