While the delegate fight was obviously not successful at all, there was one way in which the Paul delegates projected real power to influence the convention, and that is in the nomination of Brian Kalk to represent the party as candidate for U.S. House.
Kalk defeated strong establishment push Shane Goettle after a series of votes. The key vote came on the second vote when a large number of Paul voters switched their votes from two candidates receiving far fewer votes than Kalk or Goettle, and almost unanimously did so in favor of Kalk. That caused those lower vote-getting candidates to drop out out of the race, and Kalk was able to garner the 50%+1 support needed.
Kalk is not a pure liberty candidate, but he has indicated support of some of the liberty platform, obviously or he wouldn't have been supported by the Paul delegates on the second vote.
As the GOP nominee, he will likely be elected in November. We need to remember him, and make sure he remembers us. The pro-liberty and quasi pro-liberty members of the House need to know about him and how he came to be there as well. With some "proper motivation" I feel he could at times be an ally for liberty. If this comes to be, perhaps the efforts at the NDGOP convention bear some fruit yet.
