Breastfeeding Mom Graduation Photo From Down Under Goes Viral

Exactly.

Well illustrated - that's exactly what I was trying to say.

You're sitting in a restaurant eating dinner. A woman at the table next to you whips out her breast and start feeding her screaming child on the spot in plain view of everyone. Wouldn't that make a lot of people uncomfortable? Is there not a secluded area she could go to breastfeed?

It's true we live in a hyper-sexualized culture and T&A is everywhere. I mean, sex is all the average dude even wants to talk about. It's also true we have all seen breasts before, but there is such a thing as respecting others around you.

That seems like quite possibly the most appropriate place to do it. Hell, it would probably just make hungry.

Would it bother anyone to see a guy playing pocket pool? You know, masturbating without exposing himself?

It's not the same thing at all, but do you see what I am getting at?

I am truly mixed on it, breast feeding is the most natural thing in the world. It is the healthy choice, and should be encouraged. But keeping the child covered is probably the prudent thing these days. Because our society has basically turned breasts into something sexual all the time. Women nursing has not been considered shocking until the last century.

Most women do, the only time I've ever seen a woman not covered is in the ladies room. Some of the nicer places have a few chairs in the ladies room to give women a place to nurse.

Not at all. I've seen my wife breastfeed so many times that I probably would even notice it, had there not been such an uproar about it. Both of our kids were nursed until they were 1. Besides, most women that are not trying to be exhibitionists have nursing blankets for privacy. Its really not a big deal. I find people sucking each others faces and groping their crotches/a$$ cheeks to be a little uncomfortable. Especially if my kids are around. However, I find very little media coverage or thread topics on that.

Weird but the picture in the OP is more exposed that the bikini lady in the cartoon. Also, the setting makes a big difference. Seeing an engorged exposed breast in class, workplace, graduation is very different from seeing the same at the beach, mall, etc. One place you want to concentrate and focus on school, work, ceremony etc and you don't really want something that stimulating in your line of sight. But then again, I am reasonable to suggest that she should cover up more than is seen in the OP picture and maybe go to the corner of the room if she has to conduct her business. I am not calling for burkas, or bans. Its just that people be considerate of other when they are in public.

The same policy applies to other natural acts involving sex organs done in public like farting and peeing.

It's a good point, I wouldn't want to see somebody gobbling down a greasy dripping bacon cheeseburger while I was trying concentrate on school or work either.

I don't know how this has anything to do with private vs public property.

Because you're advancing a cause that empowers collectivism and government.

So could public masturbation and public sex.

Hence the reason why you're wagging the finger in the wrong direction. You shouldn't be angry at people expressing free speech. You should be angry that so much property is considered public and not private. Libertarianism 101.

Would you want some fat, disgusting, pervy, naked slob sitting beside your wife or daughter on a subway? We live in a society; we have certain decency rules we follow and laws we set to ensure public safety and civility.

Are you talking about a private subway or a public subway? Do you see why that's so important? In a private subway, you're on private property and everything do on that subway is a privilege. If it's a public subway, everyone is paying taxes for it and so you're opinion is not worth more than anyone else's. It's the tragedy of the commons.

"We're living in a society" is not actually an argument. You're in a Libertarian forum so "decency rules" aren't all that compelling. Many people would argue walking around in public with a loaded AK-47 is uncivil, indecent, and a danger to public safety...obviously that's bullshit. I don't need a government to shield my precious eyes from scary or pervy dudes.

There are communes and colonies for those who wish to live a natural tribal life, you know.

There's one thing you got right.

What if you're in culinary school?

I would hope that if I'm in culinary school, I'm making something that requires a bit more skill than a bacon cheeseburger. but sure, there are always exceptions. If I'm in a class on being a breastfeeding consultant then having a woman breastfeed in class would probably not be distracting.

That's not the point. It's about respecting those around you.

And respect for mothers and their children that are hungry? What of that? It's a mother feeding her child. How that somehow became taboo is beyond me.

What if the cause is a shared opinion among the majority of individuals?

I'm not a libertarian. What if the majority of tax payers want to limit certain kinds of "free speech" in public?

You didn't answer the question. Would you want your wife, daughter, or sister using public transportation full of creepy naked men gawking at them?

"Well, they have the option to choose not to use public transportation, they'd use private where nudity is forbidden".

Okay, what about the public roadways, schools, etc? Would you want your children exposed to public nudity, sex, and masturbation everywhere they went? Do you not see the need for any type of decency rules?
