BREAKING: Ron Paul OFFICIAL STATEMENT on DELEGATE STRATEGY

If we were to somehow change their party platform, what does that change? Nothing! They ignore their own rules, they ignore the constitution, etc. Some new words on paper doesn't change a thing.

So is everyone going to freak out now that Jesse Benton said he can't win the nomination? Are people going to refuse to believe him?

nope not freaking out ,but since my convention is over i can support someone other then mitt romney!

Who stays in a race, just to muck it up? How is that respectful?

The reason to run for President is to become President. I want the cookie, not the crumbs.

Yep I never understood this either. I'm not sure why they think this is important. I'm struggling to understand what a few hundred delegates can do that will actually matter. I can't think of much.

Benton basically said what I have been saying for weeks yet I have been attacked by many on RPF?

probably because many folks are still fighting for liberty one way or another and they didn't need negative nancies on this forum doing what you were doing as folks are still fighting the good fight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlJA-cN2C_0<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlJA-cN2C_0"> and many more folks will continue fighting the good fight, they sure do not need us demotivating them. ps i just wish benton would silence himself for a few more months.

Well I will still vote for Ron Paul in the primary but done with the GOP. My efforts going forward will be for the formation of a new true liberty based party. Best of luck to all the delegates and candidates trying to force change.

I don't know, are you going to continue being in dick mode while the grassroots is in mourning and trying to regroup and refocus?

it has been so hard as a true conservative being around local republicans. i knew they were filthy but i had no idea what cowards they were. they are almost as bad as acorn radicals.... they hold fake positions of respect in the community all the while they benefit financially from their political networking. when liberty became an option for these people they clinged to their income, status, and prestige.

this fight is over.. we lost, our greatest enemies are our neighbors. they had a chance to choose freedom but they chose mammon. now they will reap what they have sown.

I am pleased to see that the campaign has released this statement so that we can all be on the same page with what is taking place from this point forward. We are working to reshape the GOP and the first part of that will begin at the RNC with having influence over the platform and policies. Going forward from there, those of us who are willing to continue on have the opportunity to get involved on a local level and either run for office, become a party volunteer or leader, or be an on the ground activist for other liberty candidates. If we truly wish to see our concerns and issues become part of the mainstream of thought in this country, it is going to take a lot of hard work and effort on our part - this is only the beginning.

but they get no more money from me.

I think it's folks like yourself that the campaign is concerned about.

The likelihood of winning the nomination was so miniscule now, that taking your money based on your belief that we could win the nomination would be criminal. So when all likely scenarios had dried up, they were decent enough to not accept donations from those who are in it for the nomination.

The new approach is for delegates and shaping the party. There are plenty of people who will happily donate to see this vision bare fruit in the not to distant future. It's a marathon not a race. Dr. Paul has been the wise old tortoise who in known as Mr. Consistency.

Perseverance will prevail, which is why I will be making a donation to the May 17th money bomb without hesitation.

When we look back 4 more years from now, we will OWN the GOP. Our job has not changed, keep getting involved, keep promoting liberty candidates, keep focused on the Constitution and keep out numbering the old guard statists in the Republican party itself. This can't be a R3VOLUTION of one man. When neocons spout off about wanting Paulbots to go away finally, they will find that we will never stop. In the phrase ala Terminator that often goes through my head...

Listen, and understand. Those Paulbots are out there. They can't be bargained with. They can't be reasoned with. They don't feel pity... or remorse... or fear... and they absolutely will not stop, EVER, until they are dead.

you dont move forward with a strategy and have benton tell you ITS FUTILE. LOL i wish benton had worked for the romney campaign... then we would have had a chance.

Basically, Jesse Benton is saying that you pay outrageous amounts of money to go to Tampa and fight the Republican Party establishment, but we've already conceded your fight.

That's inspiring...

Chip in for the National Delegates who will be investing thousands into attending this the RNC? We can't leave those guys hanging...

This wouldn't be near as disheartening if I felt like the official campaign had put as much blood, sweat and tears into this race as the grassroots...but they didn't. It almost felt as if we were fighting against the campaign or correcting its errors for the entirety of the race...makes me feel a little sick. The grassroots doesn't deserve this.

And I wouldn't argue with you if that's what you want to do. But I'm not a republican. I only registered as such because Ron Paul was running for president again. The grassroots kept telling me we were winning, but getting delegate slots bound to other candidates is not winning. If you guys feel like you will make a meaningful impact on the republican party, go for it. But I will be spending my energy in what I feel are more useful ways.

Yep I never understood this either. I'm not sure why they think this is important. I'm struggling to understand what a few hundred delegates can do that will actually matter. I can't think of much.

its gaining long term momentum. I can understand that much. But there are some conflicts that need to be addressed. For instance, with Ron Paul's dedicated supporters, does it really take money to whip up on lackadaisical establishment supporters in caucus voting? I don't think so. This much was proven. So given the limited funds available, why were resources not spent to shore up campaign weaknesses rather than buttress a clear and overwhelming advantage in terms of depth of support and organization?

I can understanding enhancing the strength to try and hit pressure points, but the rhetoric from the campaign did not align with the actions. Money was spent on early beauty contests. But when those didn't go well, that is when we started hearing how much those didn't matter. Well, why spend money on them!?

Also, does anyone in the campaign know math? It was clear that even if Ron Paul swept every single state and district convention in the caucus states, he STILL wouldn't have enough delegates on the first ballot. So we needed to have Gingrich and Santorum take enough bound delegates in the primaries in order to effectively nullify a first ballot win for Romney. This is if there was a sweep at the caucuses! So clearly, Ron Paul needed to do some lifting in the primaries on his own, and without relying on those he was relentlessly attacking with big ad money. So where was the Alamo? Could the campaign not identify this mathematical reality?

The long term growth of this movement depends on gaining popularity. Remember the exponential growth conversation after 2008? How is that going to continue in 2016 if we continue to ignore half the country because of there nomination rules? Even with a nice chunk of delegates there to represent the ideas of the future, they still have to deal with the fact that they do not control the party. Don't be surprised when the party further refines it's rules to block this hostile take over.

We need all states on board, not just delegates from a few special cases. In order to do this, the campaign for liberty and the Ron Paul revolution leadership will need to stop ignoring states. There needs to be ground up growth, but there also needs to be a presence. Ron Paul is an icon. He is a leader that people rally around. His value to the movement at this point is that he can inspire people and motivate people politically. This was always his strength.

It doesn't take 10 million dollars to show up at a rally in states with binding popular votes. But if you really want to win, and if you really believe your message is popular, you go to these states when the political awareness is at it's highest and you show up. Even if you know you are going to lose.

It's good that the movement will be showing up sending a message to the establishment. But at some point, I think, you have to fight them strength on strength. That isn't going to happen at their special nominating beauty contest.
