My dad works with a lot of other guys who are "republicans" and they seem to magically know who Rick Perry is and already treat Rick as if he is the guy. I really lose hope in enlightenment. When are people going to turn the stupid radios and televisions off and think for themselves?

God knows I am no Dick Parrot supporter... if you have seen any of my other posts on the subject that would be clear. I think he is a thug and a chicken shit. So, I am not defending the guy AT ALL with this comment. But, there's something folks outside Texas need to know:

The Aggies (Texas A&M) are regularly made fun of down here in Texas. They are our local version of pollocks and newfies. Take all the jokes you know on those subjects and insert Aggie... we use them all the time. "Why do Texans hate to give Aggies a three day weekend? Because you have to retrain them on Tuesday." The jokes go on and on. The truth is A&M is a top tier school and produces some really capable graduates, present example excluded.

The jokes about Dickee boy may play well outside Texas. But inside Texas, and with those familiar with the Aggies, the cheerleader reference will be lost... they will look at you like you are an dolt (or worse, a yankee). He was not actually a cheerleader. He was a Yell Leader... and yell leaders have a long tradition at A&M. Yell leaders are actually voted on by the student body... they often get far more votes cast than are cast for student government leaders. A&M was once an all male school so the yell leaders date back to that tradition. A&M has several campuses across the state. The main campus that Parrot attended is in College Station (clever name, huh?). As far as I know that campus has NEVER had a female yell leader. They lead the school in cheers, song and tall tales of Aggie lore. That's pretty good training for public speaking.

So, go ahead and call him a cheerleader and make fun of it. But, don't do it in Texas or a room full of Aggies... particularly their football team.

I live in Texas. Perry is doing the right thing by staying in this state in light of the fires. Anything else would have been branded totally irresponsible.

It's been reveled, Demint offered to change the schedule, which would have only delayed Perry by one hour, since Perry was already in SC.

Rick Perry is playing the presumptive front runner role. Guess the firefighters couldn't fight those fires without a 1 hour delay by Rick Perry.

Perry fighting those fires one-click at a time...

Haven't the wildfires been raging for months? I remember reading back in April that knucklehead Perry issued an official proclamation to pray for rain and begged Obama for Federal Aid.

I am not religious, and pray is the right word. We had it rain this weekend. Second time since April. It is bad. Wildfires destroyed a friends home not long ago. He and his family were fine. Got out in time. Although I believe that Disaster Management should be left to the states, I really can't blame Perry for asking.

There is plenty to go after Perry on. This really aint one of them.
