Boycott Georgia!

A few months ago I'd be more likely to boycott Russia and praise Georgia for its economic reform efforts, but what it did on August 7th changes everything completely!

Most people have probably never bought anything made in the nation of Sakartvelo (aka Georgia), a possible exception being their main agricultural exports: tea and especially wine. Note what their alphabet looks like and avoid it on all products. When buying European wine, check to make sure it is not from Georgia. If you see a wine store carrying Georgian wine, please let them know that this country has conducted repression and war crimes against its own civilians!

If you know other companies associated with Georgia, please post about them here. Wikipedia currently lists only four: Bank of Georgia, Georgian Airways, TBC Bank, and Wissol Petroleum Georgia.

This idea isn't fully baked yet, but it has to start with something...

But your government tells you its Russia's fault

And we know the government does not lie, even if there is a pipeline involved. Believe the FEDS, its unamerican not to. USAUSAUSA>>>>>>>>>>>>

If you don't boycott the US, you aren't boycotting Georgia.

I really wish more people were aware of what is really going on over there... Mostly so they can see how blatantly our media loves to lie.

How about don't boycot anything at all. That's how Ron Paul thinks about it: be stubborn to their internal affairs and trade with them

No, boycotting is actually free market solution. It is important to separate individual action from state action.

We don't have to be stubborn to the internal affairs of others, we don't have to buy from China, for example. But we also should not make it policy to put blockades or trade restrictions on other countries.

Yes, Georgia is clearly being a NATO puppet at this point, but one of the purposes of this boycott is to let them know they're not scoring any PR points with the American people. The problem is - they're getting more from out government than they ever could from honest trade. So how do we hurt them?

Don't buy their peaches or peanuts? Stop watching CNN? Don't fly Delta? I'd say don't buy Coca Cola but I'm hooked on the stuff. :D

So if a family makes wine in Georgia, we should boycott them because of what their government did is wrong?

I never understood the idea of boycotting countries.. it hurts the people we want to help.

Well I think that the goofy government "thinking" (so called ) goes like this, put pressure on the people, who will then put pressure on their government to change policy.

Frankly, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me either. ;)

:D

Well it seems to me that Russia is doing our job for us then..... So why attempt to destroy family business there, if it already hasn't been.

If anything, buy more stuff from Georgia, so they can afford to come here and improve our economy ;)

Faux News and CNN Ironic The Communist News Network was just talking about how our market and people on wall street should boycott Russia and dump their stocks! I wonder how much more is Russia going to take from the wets before it gets pissed and do something about it kinda like how the US invaded Iraq for no reason but just because they could?
