Boycott Absolut, absolutely :/

WOW

They might as well call America England because we left them. Just like Texas left Mexico, etc. WAIT... Mexico is Spain... WAIT... Mexico belongs to the Mayons and other natives before even that... WAIT... yes, this is ridiculous

so what are you saying? from this point forward all borders should be set in stone and changing them because the majority of the population changes would be ridiculous right? If you guys really beleived in freedom you'd see it for what it is; funny

The swedish vodka producer wants a piece of the action it seems as well.... lets let them know what we think of their new vision

this is a little piece they started running in mexico recently, according to roguegovernment.com

Or you can laugh it off along with everyone else who's seen this because vodka ad is as close as Mexico is going to get to reaquiring these territories. Some of us are scared of a North American union void of any national or political identity and here you are, upset over a phantasy.

I've just realized I am a traitor to my country....

I much prefer TEQUILA (with a slice of lime). :o

I don't drink.

Oh and how exactly are Mexicans frustrated about the loss of territory way the fuck back in the 1800s? The idea that the South West US belongs to Mexico and Mexicans, sounds like it stemmed from both racism and blind nationalism. There just doesn't seem to be any sense behind it.

I think you overreact and misinterpret...is it not just an old map ??

I am a swede and absolut vodka is very popular here, though not very cheap.

It´s an old map on the ad running in Mexico right ? you know all nations like to have what they used to have...hardly anything to be upset over..it´s natural....
I would guess, you're Indians would like their territories back to.

not right. there ar nasty militant mexican groups intent on taking the land marked in the map. why absolut participates is beyond me.

Do any of you even know who Juan Hernandez is? Did you watch the video link in my first post? He's John McCain's "Hispanic Outreach Coordinator," a dual citizen of the US and Mexico and he is 100% pro-immigration. He believes Mexicans should come here, however they can get here and always maintain a Mexico-first mindset. They want their land back.

I thought he was a spy for the Mexican government.

This ad is a little strange, but it hardly seems threatening. Really, the current US borders reflect theft, intrigue, violence, and general governmenty-ness. ALL the land is stolen from the legitimate title-holders, anywhere there are property taxes, anyway.

i would feel better about that map if it was from indian tribes, not mexicans.

SKYY® Vodka, Made in the USA, Proudly Supports Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo

America’s Most-Popular Domestic Vodka Decries Absolut® Vodka’s Suggestion to Redraw North American Map

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In 1848, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo officially ended the Mexican-America War (1846-1848). With the signing of this treaty, the United States gained control of what was to become the Golden West, including California, Arizona, Utah, Nevada and parts of Colorado and New Mexico. Today, SKYY® Vodka, the number-one vodka produced in the United States, spoke out against suggestions by Absolut® Vodka to disregard that treaty, as well as the joining of Texas to the Union in 1845, as depicted in Absolut’s recent advertising.

“Like SKYY Vodka, the residents of states like California, Texas and Arizona are exceptionally proud of the fact that they are from the United States of America,” said Dave Karraker, SKYY Vodka. “To imply that they might be interested in changing their mailing addresses, as our competitor seems to be suggesting in their advertising, is a bit presumptuous.”

In the ad, an “Absolut World” is depicted where the map of North America is re-drawn with Mexico claiming much of the Western United States, negating the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, as well as the Gadsden Purchase (1853), and the independence of Texas (1836).

“Don’t get me started on the Gadsden Purchase,” continues Karraker. “I think the folks in Tucson and Yuma would be rubbed the wrong way if they hear this landmark deal was somehow nullified as suggested by Absolut, a Swedish-owned brand.”

SKYY Vodka was founded in San Francisco in 1992 and continues to be produced in the United States. Premium SKYY Vodka is made from American grain carefully selected from the Midwest and 100% pure filtered water. SKYY’s proprietary four-column distillation and three-step filtration process consistently ensures exceptional quality. SKYY Vodka products include luxury SKYY90® and new SKYY Infusions™, a unique, all-natural infused experience made with premium SKYY Vodka and succulent real fruit.

The land belongs to the people not to government. All of the nations and national borders are completely ficticious and it reminds me of when many mafias own a little piece of a city. Iraq was weak, so the stronger mafia ate up the weaker one. Socialists worry who will watch over the private sectors but what worries me is who will look over the government?
