So after the Treaty is implemented, the Feds can just change federal law to allow only what they deem to fall under those categories. Here's some off the cuff examples:
Recreational - Pellet or BB gun
Cultural - No idea what a "cultural" firearm is.
Historical - Civil War muzzleloader (probably also cultural)
Sporting - single shot 410 shotgun
One could also argue that recreational and sporting are the same and cultural and historical are the same, thus leaving only two real categories, sporting and historical. Could mean single shot shotgun for duck hunting and an antique muzzleloader, which is already exempt from most gun laws anyway.
That'll do wonders for our domestic arms production economy. Just chip another piece out of an industry Americans still manufacture and export. I worry about the domestic implications of possible seizing private weapons but this treaty also consolidates the weapons industry further by limiting whom can export what to whom.
Isn't there already laws about weapons sales to foreign countries that are used in genocide? That Russian guy from the Lord of War movie just went to prison over what this treaty claims to "fix". Why a treaty for something that's already illegal?
Obama and Boehner state they agree on no NEW gun laws in an election year. Well Im sold. Both of those guys words are good as gold around here.
But, of course, there will be some golden piece of legislation offered up by Congress and Obama will just HAVE to pass it.
