Bombshell: Leaked UN Treaty Does Ban Guns

So after the Treaty is implemented, the Feds can just change federal law to allow only what they deem to fall under those categories. Here's some off the cuff examples:
Recreational - Pellet or BB gun
Cultural - No idea what a "cultural" firearm is.
Historical - Civil War muzzleloader (probably also cultural)
Sporting - single shot 410 shotgun

One could also argue that recreational and sporting are the same and cultural and historical are the same, thus leaving only two real categories, sporting and historical. Could mean single shot shotgun for duck hunting and an antique muzzleloader, which is already exempt from most gun laws anyway.

That'll do wonders for our domestic arms production economy. Just chip another piece out of an industry Americans still manufacture and export. I worry about the domestic implications of possible seizing private weapons but this treaty also consolidates the weapons industry further by limiting whom can export what to whom.

Isn't there already laws about weapons sales to foreign countries that are used in genocide? That Russian guy from the Lord of War movie just went to prison over what this treaty claims to "fix". Why a treaty for something that's already illegal?

Obama and Boehner state they agree on no NEW gun laws in an election year. Well Im sold. Both of those guys words are good as gold around here.

But, of course, there will be some golden piece of legislation offered up by Congress and Obama will just HAVE to pass it.

Sounds like another shitty "War on [insert flavor of the decade topic here]". It won't work. Even if they do this very slowly it's still too touchy in that it would disturb many, many boiling frogs from the pot. Now we're getting to the point where they're stepping on eggshells and one slip up could cost them much of the ground they've gained in the past century. Then again they're too late seeing as the currency crisis will shake the hell out of the pot before any of this can come to fruition unless they slam an emergency deploy button in a SHTF scenario.

You're right in that they need to be very careful at this stage to avoid major setbacks in their plans. However, the currency crisis may shake the hell out of the pot, but it would still put us citizens at a major disadvantage to our government, let alone the global elite, to be living Road Warrior style. Which I think is pretty much what would happen if the bottom falls out from under the dollar.

Hey, there wasn't any ladies fighting for freedom in that movie. We have evolved ya know. Remember when Colonel Ernesto Bella said "A member of an elite paramilitary organization the "Eagle Scouts" ? Well, there is First Class Silver Awards in Girl Scouts. lol

What is says is that it won't change state's (countries) own existing laws on domestic ownership and use.

Nope. It doesn't say that. That's your polyanic, rose colored glasses take on it. You're ignoring this part.

exclusively for, inter alia, recreational, cultural, historical and sporting activities

The way the treaty is written, existing laws are only exempted from the treaty if they for recreational, cultural, historical and cultural uses.

What the treaty is attemting to address is the transfer of weapons to other countries.

A) The treaty doesn't say "transfer of weapons to other countries". It just says "transfer of weapons".

B) A law requiring every gun sold to have an RFID in it could be seen as a way to prevent "transfer of weapons to other countries".

“The treaty is dead for now.”

The big question now is what happens next? Global gun control proponents are not about to abandon their efforts, and were still apparently working on the measure late Friday. It is possible that some accord might be hammered out, but at what political cost to the Obama administration? Gun owners do not want anything that smacks of international gun control or an assault on the Second Amendment. This is an election year and they vote.

Regardless, new ways to advance citizen disarmament “under the radar” are still being explored, anticipating a time when it will be deemed safe to green light them. Among these could be moves that bypass the legislature altogether, such as executive orders designed to limit imports of “non-sporting” firearms and ammunition, and new and costly requirements for licensed gun dealers that could drive smaller ones out of business.

Additionally, anti-gun legislative measures are still advancing, buried in pending bills that would escape notice unless watchful eyes were ever present. A case in point, The Hill reported Thursday, is a cyber security bill sponsored by leading “safe” Senate anti-gunners, containing an amendment that “would make it illegal to transfer or possess large capacity feeding devices such as gun magazines, belts, feed stripes [sic] and drums of more than 10 rounds of ammunition with the exception of .22 caliber rim fire ammunition.” The bill is scheduled for debate and amendment votes next week, and while survival of that provision is questionable, it illustrates that the public liberty must be guarded with jealous attention, and that the devil is always lurking in the details.

The treaty’s unlikely to be finalized before the election. President Bush refused to include the United States from negotiations in the treaty, effectively scuttling them, but presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney hasn’t stated a position on the issue.

But we sure as hell know where he stands on the NDAA, assassination by presidential fiat, war w/ Iran (or any other country the imperial president deems a "threat"), and medical mj!
