This is good news. Barr has not renounced his libertarian views and is still very vocal about defending our civil liberties. Of course he is tailoring his message some, but that is to be expected.

There is one other good candidate-State Senator Barry Loudermilk-but I am not sure he is as good as Barr and doesn't have a great chance. The establishment has put forth two candidates-House Majority Ed Lindsey, and businesswoman Tricia Pridemore, who has strong connections with RINO Gov. Nathan Deal.

i saw a reputable poll showing him in 2nd or 3rd in the primary race. Dont remember where i saw it, but i doubt he can win this seat.

that looks like it just speaks to name recognition.

I'll leave this to Georgia, I don't have a good view of the man, but for all I know the other choices are worse. I thought I had seen that there was a good one in there somewhere, somewhat, at least, though. I don't remember who, though.

I trust Barr about as far as I can throw him. I'll support him when he's given me reason to support him.

This. I can live with disagreements, but endorsement to GINGRICH? That's just ridiculous.
Grinch was widely seen as the fiscal conservative alternate to Ron and this is why Barr went that route, coupled with the fiasco emanating from the '08 run. No doubt that Barr is a butthead but I'd probably campaign for him if I lived in or around the district. I couldn't rationalize donating to him like I would/will Broun for Senate.

Why not just endorse Ron Paul?

I've had some people tell me that they're "Small government " people but they just can't stomach Ron. My line of thinking is that if they don't want to associate with Ron Paul, I don't want to associate with them (Politically speaking, not in personal life, I associate with all kinds of people in personal life that I'd never, ever vote for for any office). Granted, I get that those are the kind of people Rand is going for, and I can respect that they like Rand better than they like Ron, but to go and endorse people like Gingrich, Santorum, and Romney instead? I can't believe that anyone who actually knows about the issues that does that kind of crap is really serious about small government. Anyone who is seriously small government should have endorsed Ron Paul rather than the liberal, the theocrat, or the guy who wanted to start World War Three...

I'll just never get it...

I guess I hope those people turn around and vote for Rand Paul in 2016. However much I may complain, Rand is SIGNIFICANTLY better than anyone else in the field. But I think they're politically stupid, and I would never vote for them for any kind of political position. Heck, I'm not even 100% sold on Rand, and he actually did support Ron Paul for President. (Before turning around and endorsing the liberal baffoon after his dad was eliminated, which was politically savvy but logically absurd.)

No way would I ever vote for a Gingrich supporter for any office.

Heck, even Jim Demint avoided endorsing a candidate, and he's definitely not a liberty candidate. Barr endorsed GINGRICH, in addition to voting for the Patriot Act and helping to run the DEA.

I think Barr is probably even worse than Ted Cruz. No thanks.

Barr has gone to great lengths for over a decade to try to reverse civil liberties violations and the drug war. Simply stating he voted for them in Congress is misleading.

he would be better than most run-of-the-mill repubs... maybe.. cause I really don't trust this "former" neocon/CIA agent..

honestly, his race is inconsequential to me.

GO BOB BARR !!

Although I'm sure he'd suck and support the leadership he'd still be miles better than most other congressmen.

I agree with the memo although obviously biased on the face of it you must concede it's difficult for an opponent because Barr has national recognition and prominence and is well known. How many GA Republicans apart from Newt can claim that? This is like Mark Sanford's race. He should be able to pull this off if he keeps shaking hands and selling himself.

There is a long time to go however but Barr is a seasoned campaigner and knows how to run a campaign.

Wasn't Gingrich a moderate candidate? I may be wrong, but I remember Beck and Limbaugh lambasting him as a progressive on their shows.
